UNC won't leave NC State or Duke. Those 3 run that conference, they aren't leaving.
Your are going to need to convince the football and basketball staffs to take a collective 25-30% pay cut if we are in the glorified American conference. We are become Boise State or Cincinnati in the best case scenario. There is no way Okie State, Texas Tech, Kansas and West Virginia are staying with that type of league.
What Big 10 school would vote for us in? They already make tons of $$$ - ISU would just make their shares smaller.

The thought being they need to match the SEC inn # of teams, and more “Big 10” content means more $$$.
Recruiting 2 really solid guys a year is different than filling out 85 scholarships on a football team.
UT won't be the big dog. It'll be interesting.
I still have no idea why they just don't go independent. That would maybe even help with recruiting.
There are no auto-bids for conferences in the proposed 12-team format. The six highest-ranked champions would get in, but that doesn't guarantee the Big 12 anything. And if OU goes to the SEC, the Big 12 would likely be in a similar position as the Pac-12 has been in for years. It'll be easier for G5 champions to be ranked higher than the Big 12 champ if OU isn't there anymore, and the SEC/Big Ten/ACC will be among those six every year barring some fluke scenario.
Well there's no question we have a Big Ten profile - lots of Big Ten graduates among our faculty, and lots of ISU grads sprinkled all over Big Ten faculties.
IF the Big 12 were to disintegrate, I'd selfishly like to see us in the Pac-XX. That would mean I could go to a couple games per year between UW, Wazzu, OU and OSU. Now that all the kids are in public school instead of homeschooling it will be nearly impossible to get to games at JTS for a while.
Because this isn't the 1980s. There's a reason why so few relevant schools are independent - with conferences so large and important independent schools have hell trying to make relevant schedules. Notre Dame even had to make a scheduling alliance with the ACC just to make a relevant schedule year in and year out. And can anyone say that BYU going independent actually helped them in the long run?
Not to mention, ESPN regretted creating LHN within 2 years - it hemorrhages money like crazy, and there's nothing they can do about it until it runs out.
There is nothing fun for us about this if this happens.
Joining the BIG is a pipe dream. Will never ever happen. BIG gains nothing from adding us besides another mouth to feed at the table. One person mentions it, and they’re getting a bat to the knee cap.
I’d say it’s just as likely as any other possibility outside of the Big 12 staying exactly the same as it is now with a little higher odds.

I’d rather travel to Minneapolis, Madison, Chicago etc than Lubbock, Waco or Manhattan KS for events.
