Report: OU & Texas reach out to join SEC

We'd definitely rank behind KU?? We're both AAU institutions, so we're essentially on the same level academically. Football is king and KU has the worst football program in the country, while ours is ranked in the top 10. Their facilities are a joke compared to ours. And while their men's basketball program is highly ranked, it also operates under a dark cloud of NCAA violations.

KU brings a new media market and while that matters less now, it does matter. And they have a top 5 pedigree in CBB.

I know it's basktball but Mark Few gets the best talent in the country to come and play Portland and Pepperdine twice a year late at night. I feel like players will gravitate towards winners.

You are suggestion Gonzaga come on board for basketball? Lol no way.

Also, it’s cute you guys think the Big Ten wouldn’t bring in KU. They’re not looking for more contenders, they’re looking for more whipping boys for schools like OSU, Michigan and Penn State.

You assume campbell will stay in a ****** conference.
Baylor, Kansas St, Oklahoma St, and TCU all have better winning % the last decade than Texas. I get they are a brand(or at least their idiotic fans think they are) but they aren't a powerhouse in either sport by any means. They are barely above .500 the last decade.

In fact they are barely above West Virginia for 6th place since the realignment last time.

IF this happened, and it would be a BIG if (I’m pretty confident this is a negotiating tactic, and as much as I hate to say it, I have much more confidence in our current AD than I had in Beebe), the P5 conference we would be most attractive to would be the Pac12.

It isn't a BIG if...It is over. Tx and Ou will be informing the Big 12 that they are not renewing GOR next week. Big 12 is over as we know it.

Agree. Today the B1G would not invite Rutgers. Maybe Maryland, maybe.

I hope I’m wrong and the B1G extends us an invitation. It’s the best place for us, for sure. Just not sure we add enough to warrant dividing their pie even further.

And if you don’t have revenue from a TV contract to pay a Top 10 coach $4 million plus then you aren’t retaining that coach. You don’t comprehend the difference in revenue from the Big 12 to whatever the hell you are cobbling together. It will be a difference of $25 million dollars per year.

I was skeptical this was real when the story first broke, but I’m pretty sure it is now. Not saying it’s a done deal, but the non-denials by both Texas and OU when this story has already become a circus is telling. I suppose it’s possible that this is a negotiating tactic to get Fox to pony up, or maybe exploring their options while threatening fox to see what happens.
