Report: OU & Texas reach out to join SEC

If Texas and OU want in your conference, you would have to be pretty dumb not to vote yes if you are an SEC team.

Eh according to the twitter thread Fitzy linked a page back, they would need to make the conference about $100 million per year on their own to have it make any financial sense. And that's before you deal with any of the other issues. Do they do that?

The contract runs until 2037, so I really doubt that if ND tries to leave that suing the ACC to get them out of the contract is not going to work.

Google it the contract was renew within the past 3 years and runs until 2037.. ND is not joining the Big 10

What does a jump to the SEC do for either of them? Would they really make that much more money that a more difficult path to the Playoff would be beneficial?

Tthis move by TX and OU makes zero sense to me, other than them trying to get some bargaining chips, so it means it's probably going to happen.

ND cannot go into the Big 10, their contract with the ACC says that if they join a league it has to be the ACC. That is the price they paid to park their other sports in the league, that and having to play 5 football games a year against ACC opponents.

This depends on the contract, but something tells me this only applies if ND wants to stay as a member for the other sports. If they bailed on ACC membership entirely and took all their sports elsewhere (like to the big 10) they'd probably be fine.

Maryland had no choice they were broke, its either start cutting sports or take the deal from the Big 10. They and Rutgers were in the same boat and had to do something to stay afloat. Go back and look at how much money both schools were getting from their universities for atheletics and its was in the 10's of millions per year.

None of which are Iowa's population getting bigger. The natural move if you are the Big 10 is UNC and the major markets of that state.

But one of which is the only way to watch a college football game is to be in the right regional cable network.
