Report: OU & Texas reach out to join SEC

Joining the SEC absolutely changed how Mizzou needed to recruit. I don't know how this is even up for debate.
How so? They were winning in the SEC with players they recruited for the Big 12. Doesn't seem to me like they needed to change anything. They started losing when a new coach came in who wasn't nearly as good of a recruiter. If anything joining the SEC opened up more Southern states for them to recruit from.

I think we just all need to take a deep breath. (If this would even happen, which is low), this isn’t old Iowa state we’re talking about. We’ve put ourselves in a favorable position to land somewhere good.

I think this is in response to the Big 12 not having a big TV contract ready to go.

We may think we aren't the old Iowa State, but it doesn't matter what we think. Recruiting was awful when we weren't sure what conference we were going to be in. Campbell and staff are great recruiters, but don't think that **** won't hurt us. Not to mention that we have a coach that might not want to stay if we go down a conference.

Like I said before, there's no reason to panic over this. BUT there's also no reason to act like this wouldn't really **** us over if it happened.

And KU isn't going to the Big 10 without a #16. And that #16 won't be their academic weakling in-state school.

Agree...but that doesn't mean Iowa State is the favorite to be #16! Like I stated early...Iowa State would have to bend over and take whatever the Big 10 would do to us if that were to come to fruition! Sure we would be in the Big 10...but it would likely be a worse offer than what Nebraska accepted to join the league.

To say you are in the SEC. Like I said, not everyone is trying to find the easiest way into the college football playoff and that's what some of you think this is about. Some of it is about trying to position yourself for what you think college football will look like in the future. Money is what it's all about.
Your entire argument is SEC. There has to be a substantive argument. Sticking with the NCAA the Big 12 is a significantly better option for both schools. They get to dominate athletically and politically. They make just as much money in the Big 12. They don’t lose bargaining power if stuff blows up.

when did that happen? i love the SEC on cbs.

Last year? The ESPN deal
Is worth like 10X as much per year than the CBS deal. Don’t have to squint too hard to see ESPN/Disney wanting to maximize that deal. Plus UT already has a deal with ESPN going that they could possibly roll in to this.
