Stadium Advice Needed, Please!

Hey, guys! For the first time since graduating in 2009, I am coming back to the beautiful state of Iowa for the big game between ISU and Iowa! The stadium has obviously changed a ton since I graduated, so just wanted some input on which sections people recommend. I'm bringing my girlfriend and we are looking to spend $250 a ticket. Are there any sections that seem to be better than other's? I'm looking currently in sections 27, 28, 29, 13, 14, and 15.

I'm super excited for this trip. Hessen Haus was a staple for me in college, so can't wait to go back there. I've gotten some beer from Alluvial and it's delicious, so will definitely stop there in Ames. Any other recommendations in Des Moines (I'll be staying downtown) or Ames, I'd really appreciate it since I'm sure Ames has changed a ton since 2009.

I graduated in 2013 and i am blown away how different campustown is. you better bring a compass

I would rather be in the upper deck than in the corners of the lower bowl. Seeing the opposite half of the field can be hard from the sections you mentioned. Personally I would like to be upper deck and obviously as close to midfield as you can get.

In section 29. About 2/3rds up. That puts us on the 10 yardline. We see everything totally fine. We have been upper, lower, back of the endzone, 50 yardline and several in between. Upper and lower have their own advantages and perspectives that you can’t get with the others. For that price, you could probably push into section 30/31 I would think.

Midfield upper is $450+ per ticket.

For what you want to spend, think you're looking in the right area. Waander the lots, am sure you will get invited for a beer!! I'm in A2, but daughter and SIL are coming in from Houston, so I'll be upping my bags game but will have time to offer a Blue Moon.

My only real recommendation is to try and find seats on the west side of the stadium to keep the sun out of your eyes and possibly get some shade if it's a hot day. Other than that I don't think there will be much difference between a lot of those sections.

Be patient and don’t buy tickets yet. Browse the ticket forum and Craigslist in the weeks leading up to the game and you shouldn’t have any problem getting lower or upper deck tickets near midfield for at or below $250/ticket.

That's what I figured. I learned with the Capitals that I could often times get tickets for half their original listing on the day of.
 
Something else that's changed since 2009: Two large high-def video boards. However the students who cue and run replays notoriously late and have to cut out for the next play hasn't changed.

I think he's talking just a single game, not season tickets. Or is that what tickets are going for on the secondary market for that game?? Man, if it wasn't for harvest only allowing me to go to the first couple of games, I'd gladly sell 2 of my seats for $250 each. I hate that game.

They will get cheaper. If looking at the corner sections only, I would say my first choice would be top 10ish rows of the lower bowl, then upper deck corner, then lower bowl lower rows. Lower deck, goal line, front 15 rows are the worst seats in JTS.

Not sure what tickets will go for but I love sitting in or near the front row in the upper deck between the 35-50 on either side of the field. Also one of the guys on here @Cycsk sometimes has tickets for sale in the new endzone corners in the first couple rows... also a great vantage point I think.

The east village has Peace Tree Brewing which is fun stop. You could also work your way over to Confluence Brewing south of Grays lake and/or Lua Brewing in Sherman Hill. We hit up Lua last time I was back.. I really enjoyed both the food and brew there if thats your sort of thing.

The east side gets the bikini tops and sometimes a little less after scores. The sun is nice on occasion.
