Not necessarily true. A recruit cannot get NIL payment that is directly tied to attending a specific school but they absolutely can get paid for NIL if their state allows it as well as their high school athletic association.

Totally get and would agree but I doubt ISU would "make room" for a transfer at this point.

I could see the scenario with team workouts a month in, a current player may feel differently about their role and potential minutes. They may decide they may need a fresh start elsewhere. Staff may be aware of the possibility and makes sense to be prepared. Especially if TJ feel this team is closer than expected to the tourney and Obanor would tip the scales.
