I lived in Ann Arbor when I was 2. I don't recall much animosity,

I must not be "people" because when I hear Ohio, I think of Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Toledo. Columbus comes in after Lima in my book. My guess is that I-75 and I-80 are (at least in my mind) the main North/South and East/West corridors through Ohio and Columbus isn't on them.

I moved there in August, and I remember seeing local TV ads about the OSU v. Michigan game. Season hadn't even started, and it was the last game of the year. Nothing mattered other than Michigan. Also saw an old guy almost get beaten up at a restaurant by two middle-aged meatheads because he was talking to his wife about how OSU couldn't beat Michigan and apparently they didn't like it.

I-80 is only far northern part of OH, I-75 is only on the western portion of the state. I-71 is the main N/S. Connects all 3 C cities. I-70 runs E/W through the middle of the state.

By all 3 C cities I assume you mean Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Canton? To echo what someone else has said, I think Columbus is the 5th city I think of when I hear Ohio. And I spent a long weekend there once. Granted, I've lived my whole life in WI/IA/MN.
 
50 years ago, Cleveland was a legitimate big metro area, 10th in the country in population. It is now 34th in population. It's scary how many people have been leaving Ohio. Maybe @Gunnerclone is on to something moving there when everybody else is leaving. He'll have his choice of dilapidated factories which he can convert to artists lofts or breweries.

Every time I hear about the "rise" of Columbus (booming industry, population, etc.) my first thought always go to Ready Player One and the center-of-the-country that the city became. Even more so than I link it to OSU. Don't know why, but my brain won't not do it.

Columbus isn’t built on manufacturing like Cleveland. It’s more like Des Moines; insurance and being the seat of state government, plus tOSU.
