Old Mediocre Has-Been Desperate To Appear Relevant; aka JBo To Return

PG Toussaint, Ulis, JBo, Connor
SG Perkins, JBo, Connor, Sandfort
SF Patrick, Connor, Kris Murray, Keenan Murray, Sandfort
PF Keegan Murray, Connor, Rebraca, Kris Murray, Patrick
C Rebraca, Mulvey, Ogundele

That is in no particular order. Unknown yes, but not lacking a ton of talent either. I think that team can push for a tournament Bubble spot. Possibly a 1st 4 type team. But they are likely NIT bound unless someone surprises.
The bolded names combined for = same amount of minutes as JBo last year. (29 per)

If this was such a great idea is there a reason they didn't do it last year?
You know what else would’ve been a great idea? Starting the “future first round draft pick Murray” who averaged 8 points as a freshman and was by far the most athletic guy on the roster.

Who did Fran start? His son Connor, arguably the worst starter in the conference.

To be fair, every fanbase does this after you lose big names. "X good player that left wasn't really that good, and A, B, C new guys are going to be great for us." It's normal fan procedure to underplay the guys that leave and overplay the new guys.

Hell, we as a fanbase are doing the same thing right now with MBB.

That team, depending on what the coach will do and we all kinda know, will have a good chance to be good defensively.

Ideally I want Toussaint, Perkins, Patrick, Murray, Murray starting. Not a lot of proven scoring there, but a lot of athletic ability and defensive ability there.
What makes you think that Fran, after all of these years, is going to suddenly change how he fundamentally coaches defense? Better defensive players (i.e. players that actually can play defense before they get to Iowa)? A strong post presence that can allow the other 4 players to guard the other 4 without doubling down on the opposing team's post? How about two or more players that can consistently shoot greater than 30% at the three? Good grief...your starting team is last years team, only missing a 25+ point/12+ rebound per game guy with an unproven replacement and teams now being able to play tighter defense on your shooters.

Who on that roster can hunt/create their own shot? Murray could be that guy but he hasn't shown that he could do it consistently.

It's hilarious to imagine Bohannon and Fran discussing him coming back and how they will really need to sell the narrative that Jbo's playing shooting guard and Joe T is running the show. Fortunately the perfect puppet to broadcast this exists and he is employed by 247 sports.

I thought Connor was the point guard?

I think he's an ass too but I do appreciate how much he gets under the skin of everybody. Exactly what he's after.
do you appreciate Jake Paul for the same?
And I ask this honestly, because I just this morning reading this thread had a thought about if I would appreciate a personality like JBo if he were on my team, or if I would get fed up with him and he'd annoy me.
I came to the conclusion I'd probably cheer for him and appreciate what he can do on the floor, but roll my eyes or talk **** to my friends about how much he annoys me any time I see him trolling on twitter.

Yeah, wasn't sure how to say he was old for college and trying to feel important. I'll take another stab at it...
I saw somewhere that he is only like 14 games from the NCAA record for most games played. He will shatter that record next year*.

*Unprecedented 6 years of eligibility

So if NIL goes into effect and a player like JoBo continues to underperform in big games, thus having a very low relative value, do they end up having to pay money back to the school at the end of the year? I would assume he's at like $1.50 in value, and when factoring in like $50K for scholarship, room, attire, training, etc he should have to pay back like $49,998.50 (plus whatever rugs and things he stole).

Maybe whatever pizza company that sponsors free pizza night to get people to come to games will sponsor him.

Jorbo’s Cheese Pizza Night brought to you by Papa John’s. First 5,000 fans get a pizza with no toppings “We tried to throw them on but we missed”
