When TJ mentions Conditt getting back on track. I had to look into that. If you dive into the analytics. George was really playing will at the beginning of 2019 with Hali running the pick and roll.

Watch these highlights against #16 Seton Hall:

Conditt had 17 points, 6 boards and 5 blocks. The guy really does thrive when he gets running. His game is not as good in a half court setting

It's actually interesting to examine just what happened with him... Through the first 13 games of the 19-20 season, he was averaging 10.5 ppg, 5.7 rpg, 2.8 bpg, and was shooting 69% from the floor.. Those are numbers close to what Jameel was averaging.

The 14th game to the end of the season (18 games), he averaged 4.7 ppg, 4.2 rpg and .7 bpg.. I think a couple of things happened. The first was that teams figured out our offense, which was just PnR with Conditt and Tyrese. The second was when Tyrese went down with an injury, we didn't have another person who could effectively get the ball to George in good positions. Funny enough, that's exactly what happened this past year as well because Prohm refused to get a capable PG.

Conditt can be effective but he needs to be played correctly and Prohm set him up to fail. George is not a back to the basket guy but was asked to be one.

The question is where between Tyrese Haliburton and this past season's point guard debacle do we need to get in order to get meaningful play out of Conditt?

I remember KenPom tweeting to start George Conditt during that first half of 2019-2020 period. He was having a great season. Haliburton's injury, this season's play style and not having a PG this year really hurt his progress.

I still think they don't win the 2019 Big 12 Championship without Conditt. Lawson was bringing KU back and he came in and shut Lawson down late in the 2nd half.

Interesting that TJ mentioned several times that they needed to address shooting in the recruiting process. This is one of the things that I really questioned in Prohm's last 2 classes. Seems like none of those guys were very good shooters, or at least from the outside. 3 point shooting the last 3 years have been really bad.

College coaches try to defend their way to winning games. Freddy showed that if you had multiple scorers on the floor you could force the tempo and get defensive teams out of their comfort zone.

man, ten years ago, we would've had Halliburton for 4 years. The games changed and analytics have caught up to show his value.

I've wondered if there was something not related to basketball going on with George at times. I know everyone doesn't want to believe anything Prohm said, but he said something late in the year that made me wonder if he was struggling with something that had nothing to do with not having Tyrese or with having the worst coach ever. ;). D Rob mentioned today that late in the year, George was the one in the gym and working hard (and that was before TJ became the coach).

One of the more analytic focused NBA Draft Twitter guys I follow really liked Conditt a lot as an under the radar guy early in his career, especially defensively. His block and steal rates were reallllllyyyy good. Hoping we can get out and running a bit more where he seemed more comfortable.

Yeah I remember at one point he was a second rounder in ESPN’s mock draft. Bummer to think how far he’s fallen but also shows the potential he has.

If something clicks with George he can be a solid Big12 center. I think it starts in the weight room this off season. He needs to get stronger, but he also needs to get more fluid. He still reminds me of a gangly colt.

The hiring of Green could be huge. I'd be surprised if George develops a Solomon Young jump shot this offseason, so it critical the staff works on a couple go to moves for George in the low post. A great season for George would be 8-10ppg, 6-8 rpg and 3 bpg. His value is on defense.
