The Fran fade

The whole team was injured. Do they not have S&C over there? They looked soft and I guess they were.

Wait what??

I haven't heard anything. Connor was needed in 2019-2020 after JorBo went down. He brought ball handling, passing, and a toughness that was needed. I thought he did a good job with his role that year.

This year, I feel he tried to do too much at times and took a step back in his effectiveness.

Next year, I'm not sure what role he could play unless it is off the bench for a few minutes.

If Prohm would've been double digit seeds in the NCAA tournament and knocked out the past two years, he would've made the NCAA tournament 5-6 years, made one Sweet 16, and won 2 Big 12 Tournament Championships. Not exactly a hot take that we wouldn't have fired him lol.

We fired him because he was historically awful as you and everyone else here knows. Fran on the other hand has been above average to good his entire time at Iowa and never more than that. Even with a senior led squad and a POY, he didn't accomplish close to what Prohm accomplished here, and we just fired him.
This! And what Iowa fan can honestly say they are back to the level TD had them 22 years ago? Iowa, their media, and their fans got greedy- they have always thought they equal to a Michigan or Ohio State or Indiana as a bb program and they’re not over time- I clearly remember the phrase “next level” being used when Slick was brought in in ‘99. So for two decades we’ve had to listen to how first, Slick, then Lick, and now Franny are taking them to that “next level”. And it hasn’t happened. It’s about resources and recruiting base. At places like Iowa and ISU, you have to hit the jackpot to get a coach who can coach up recruits with less stars to be competitive with the Kansas’s and Michigan’s of the world. There was some reason Lute left in ‘83 for a program that was 3-24- and I’m sure it wasn’t all about warmer winters. I find it humorous how Iowa’s “next level” plan hasn’t panned out over three guys in 22 years.

You really think Fran wouldn't start Connor? Lol

Fair. Lol I'm reserving all takes until Iowa State has 13 guys on their roster. I'll then most likely still pick us to go right at or slightly below .500.
and I'll probably go with the Hawks right at or slightly above .500. same ballpark and I don't think either coach should be crucified for that. The year after next will be more important as far as moving the right direction goes I think.

Hey, it takes awhile to get to the next level sometimes.

Pushing Davis out was a mistake. I thought that when it happened and have always felt that way. Fran isn't and never will be a Tom Davis level coach. Plus Davis was just a terrific guy on top of it. He deserved better than he got but handled it with class anyway.

I think he just got worse. I don’t think he’s good at all. He’s a waste of a position out there. But he won’t come off the bench. There’s no way Fran would do that IMO.

Well TJ will be in year one, but yes you’ll always take a step back when losing a generational player like Garza.

Did you forget complaining, fouling, and very limited scoring ability?
