The Fran fade

So you think Wieskamp has no chance of making a roster when Matt Thomas is on one?
The Ice Man is the Ice Man. Weezy is...well...Horseface (Uthoff) lite.

EDIT: I know Hawkeye fans have no concept of defense, but Matt Thomas learned how to play a bit . As Oregon (and a number of other teams) illustrated for us all, none of the Iowa players could play defense.

I was just looking back over Iowas season and for as "great" as this team was supposed to be they didn't accomplish ANYTHING. No regular season or tournament conference championship. Hell, didn't even finish in the top 2 of those. No sweet 16. They didn't really even beat anybody significant outside of OSU and the shine is sure off that victory. Got their doors blown off by some of the better teams they faced. Basically the lasting legacy of this team is being overrated for most of the season. Even Frans best season is mediocre as f@ck.
But Keith Murphy said they started out ranked 5th and ended up ranked 5th so they obviously met expectations.

You mean the guy who overcame his Dad's tragedy, struggling as a highly touted Freshman, learning how to come off the bench and play defense, play through bone spurs, have surgery, go overseas, dominate seasoned professionals, become EuroCup champion, sign with a top NBA franchise, play his way out of the D league and off the end of the bench, become a fan favorite, get traded to another top NBA franchise as an established pro?

Yeah, no.

Iowa: Gets a 2 seed, gives Fran an Extension, and retires Garza's number in season.

Wieskamp isn’t that bad a defender and has good size. Bigger role on offense in college compared to Thomas as well.

Claiming anyone on the Iowa roster isn't that bad of a defender isn't quite right. It's like having a contest for tallest midget. They all stink, so being the best of the worst isn't impressive.

Wrong. Murray is actually a good defender and very tough around the rim.
