Hinterland 2020

Really good line up.

One thing that I've changed my mind on over the course of the pandemic is how despite loving live music, I don't like festivals that much. It's hot as ****, and it's all damn day. Everything is expensive. I'm getting old, I guess.

Has anyone ever done the Bronze camping? I don't have much desire to camp, but it would be nice to have somewhere to go to cool off and have a few drinks. I'm thinking $35 bucks is worth it to have, if nothing else, a canopy up and a cooler of your own beer.

It looks like it's quite a jaunt from the stage though.

Unfortunately it looks like Bronze is the only one still available.

I didn't get tickets, and I'm hella bummed. My three I want to see most here are Black Pumas, Leon Bridges, and Orville Peck, but Caamp, Khruangbin, The Dip are all fantastic.

Yeah, right now you had to commit to all three days. That's a long-ass time of sitting on a hill.

That was the only drawback for me. In years past we've just picked the 2 days we wanted to see the most. 3 days will be long, and especially long if the weather isn't great.

But after the last year I'm not about to complain about 3 days of great live music!

I had a buddy who was on the waitlist get some yesterday. I'm not sure if they still have the waitlist open but it may be worth a shot.

Having to commit to all 3 days makes not going that much easier of a decision.

Even though there are acts I dig on all 3 days, I would have been just fine with doing Saturday only and not having to take time off work.

I was thinking about joining it. My only problem is just the three-day commitment. That's a really, really long time. I'm sort of weighing it out!

That's a big part of my concern. If I'm spending money for all three days, I'd want to see Caamp for sure, which means taking off most of Friday. I would want to stay until Leon was done on Sunday, which means not getting home until late and missing most of Monday. It ends up costing PTO in addition to the tickets, which is a real thing.

While we wound up just going for it, this was my thought process as well. 2 years ago it was pretty easy to just leave work a little early Friday and not miss too much, and we didn't get tickets for Sunday as I wasn't too pumped about Brandie Carlisle. This year's hard for that exact reason-- I don't want to miss Caamp or Leon Bridges, which pretty well puts us there the full 3 days.

The headliners are great, but I am more excited super impressed with the undercards. Yola will bring the house down with her voice. Saw Marcus King play with Chris Robinson on a make shift Black Crowes tour. Dude is a master at the guitar and a great voice, and Orville Peck is going to make a lot of men question their sexuality. Dude is amazing.

Orville Peck, woah. I just discovered that guys music not long ago. What an interesting dude!

We got the 3 day passes as soon as they went on sale. Doing the RV gold camping with an old 80s pop camper with a bunch of friends and I can’t ******* wait! We’ve gone each year and always just done the volunteer route with their camping

Loved when I went to Bonnaroo in 2006 but when I watch clips of any festival I can't imagine any of it.

My preference any more is outdoors with lots of room to roam and preferable community/free shows.

I just got on the Hinterland site and noticed during Orville Peck's set he going to sing with Paul Cauthen as their Unrighteous Brothers duo. They do a great job of covering their best music. Paul Cauthen is also a great undercard performance. His song Cocaine Country Dancing is a good one to play at the bar if you want to get things going.
