The Fran fade

Yes I know about Jordan's Hilton shoes, but being 100% real here, can the players write messages on their shoes, headbands, etc to get some camera action and announcer mentions?

Players used to write messages on their shoes frequently. I wonder if they can still do that?

Yeah that's what I'm wondering too. I know the NBA allows it, not sure about NCAA. NCAA told Tebow to stop putting scripture #'s on his eye black years ago.

I personally am on the side of the players. These are young men, that many of them are not privileged, most of them will never earn a dime of money in the sport they play in college, and may never have the ability to make this kind of money again in their lives. So instead of money going to the players who provide the product, the NCAA is getting rich, and trying to protect that money. Amateurism is just a way for the NCAA to get away with paying basically nothing to secure the service of it's player who drive the product.

How do you suppose we pay student athletes? Every athlete will need to get paid. Doesn’t matter the sport. Even ones who generate a lot less money such as cross country, tennis, and golf to name a few. Would they make the same amount of money. Would a kid such as Cade Cunningham make as much as a tennis player from Drake? How do you suppose this would work? I agree they need to get some form of compensation, but this is a very slippery slope. The financials would be very complicated.

If I was to take a swing at this, I'd say they won't be consulting with any of us here. It is going to get really complicated and I wouldn't want to be the one making those decisions. No way it can be done without really pissing some people off.

P5 mens football and basketball should break away from the NCAA, that is the only way this can work. The rest of the non revenue sports would go back to being funded by the universities. The system as is could never share revenues in the current system.

Life it what it is. That means it isn't always fair or equitable. The fact is mens football and basketball is what this country spends billions on to be entertained. Why should young men that are the product that people pay to watch have to give the money they earn to other non revenue sports/athletes? Here it the hickup that people who are jealous just can't get over though, and that is these 18-22 year olds should be making millions. Many just can't stand that, they say they "shouldn't make that" even though that is what they drive in revenues. Me personally I'd be happy that a kid could make a million bucks a year. I don't care if some 16 Youtuber makes millions for people watching his video game stream, and I certainly don't care if George Niang pulled in a couple mil while he was in college.

Just saw an old episode of Star Trek the original series with Fran starring in it...
