Tyrese Hunter PG '21 - Committed!

Why wouldn’t we? You’re saying Prohm thinks Haliburton’s a big 12 level pg, which Wigginton never indicated, but he’s going to pass because he has one that’s going to be a freshman (Wright)? You can take multiple pg prospects, particularly when one is 6’5”. That’s horrible risk and roster management by Prohm if what you suggest is true, but it’s just conjuncture. Then again, you could be correct though, given Prohm did prove to be horrible, lacking in roster management

At the time we had other needs more than a second point guard. When we got Halliburton we needed a point guard. If wright would have came we would not have gone after Halliburton. Then again it was five years ago so who cares

Is this you Steve?
That’s such bad roster building. You always need a second pg, that’s how you avoid seasons like this in which you have zero. Take at least one pg in each class if you can, more when they’re 6’5” and can play off ball like Haliburton. Wright (and Wigginton if he still committed) as an incoming freshman should not prevent you from taking Haliburton.

I genuinely am in the dark what did Matt A do to become a villain in Ames?
I think people think the rumors about his recruiting "style" are somehow not connected to who he coached under here and who he is still coaching for today.

Remember the Hines story about JP being cheap and 'double digit sources'? While never confirmed, its pretty much assumed Matt was a main source in that story. I don't think he would be welcome back in Ames by JP.
I don't think Matt A (if it was him) did it without the blessing of Fred, seeing as he's still working with Fred.

Keeping his commitment has got to be Otz's top priority. At the time it didn't seem as that big of a deal but Fred keeping ME got us a guy that will eventually have his jersey in the rafters.
Having a talented point guard to build around is a big key for the type of offense Fred ran and similarly what I presume TJ will run. No recruit is ever a sure thing, but Tyrese is not only a very talented player, he was a winner too in high school. 3 state championships and a 50-1 record his last two years iirc.

I feel pretty confident that Hunter will stay committed. He’s from Wisconsin and if he talks to anybody I’m sure they will have nothing but positive reviews on TJO and the work and connections he’s made in WI
Imo an AD wouldn’t hire TJ with no real search without having indications he’d get Hunter
