Correct, we took Wigginton over Wright.
Because they wanted to save a spot for Wigginton.McNeal over Wright*
How would we have reacted if we didn’t take a 5 star guard?Because they wanted to save a spot for Wigginton.
What a brutal mistake.
Wasn’t McKinley Wright coming here until Prohm pulled his scholarship or something? Dude has had a great career at Colorado.
Good memory you two!Correct, we took Wigginton over Wright.

Just fine as most would believe the odds weren’t likely we’d land Wigginton and you don’t pass up on good pgs. Wigginton never looked like a pg and you knew he wasn’t likely to be around long. How would we have reacted if we didn’t take a 5 star guard?
I’m not saying we shouldn’t have took him. We should have took both, but imagine if we didn’t take a 5 star.Just fine as most would believe the odds weren’t likely we’d land Wigginton and you don’t pass up on good pgs. Even more important, it wouldn’t have mattered, we’re not paying a coach to fan-vote and recruiting.
It was clear Wright should have been a take, even without hindsight.
What are the odds Wright would’ve stayed four years with us? Most didn’t.We took Wiggs. However, we probably would not have gone after Halliburton had we already had wright. We made the right decisions at the time. Wright just ended up being really good.
Drew we need smart people like you that make things make sense here. Good insight and point there. We took Wiggs. However, we probably would not have gone after Halliburton had we already had wright. We made the right decisions at the time. Wright just ended up being really good.
First, that is not the situation- Wright wanted to commit before Wigginton wanted to come here. At that point you don’t know what Wigginton is going to do, but you do have a good pg wanting to commit. Take it- you don’t know if you’ll get Wigginton, who’s not a pg and a flight risk anyways. Make room somehow else if Wigginton wants to commit later.I’m not saying we shouldn’t have took him. We should have took both, but imagine if we didn’t take a 5 star.
Why wouldn’t we? You’re saying Prohm thinks Haliburton’s a big 12 level pg, which Wigginton never indicated, but he’s going to pass because he has one that’s going to be a freshman (Wright)? You can take multiple pg prospects, particularly when one is 6’5”. That’s horrible risk and roster management by Prohm if what you suggest is true, but it’s just conjuncture. Then again, you could be correct though, given Prohm did prove to be horrible, lacking in roster managementWe took Wiggs. However, we probably would not have gone after Halliburton had we already had wright. We made the right decisions at the time. Wright just ended up being really good.
Second guessing? NopeApparently we've reached the "second guessing five year old recruiting decisions" part of the program
Not sure what we are arguing. We should have took Wright. He’s turned out to be really good. Then we can both agree that you always take a 5 star prospect, especially at ISU.First, that is not the situation- Wright wanted to commit before Wigginton wanted to come here. Second, Prohm isn’t paid to win recruiting rankings, he’s paid to have foresight and good evaluation, and one game of watching Wigginton at Oak Hill should cause you to have no problem grabbing a true pg.
You’re the one that disagreed with saying it was brutal to not take Wright because of Wigginton. That was clearly a mistake when it happened, just bad risk and roster management. Take Wright and continue to recruit Wigginton. Not sure what we are arguing. We should have took Wright. He’s turned out to be really good. All I said is we should have took the 5 star no matter what. I agree that we should have taken McKinley. This is just another mistake from the Prohm era. You’re the one that disagreed with saying it was brutal to not take Wright because of Wigginton. If you want to play the what will fans think game, imagine if we don’t land Wigginton after passing on Wright? More famine recruits? Honestly, it doesn’t change any seasons to not land Wigginton, but that’s a different topic.

I was suspect of Prohm year 1 and 2. During year 3 it became apparent he wasn’t up for the task of coaching in the big 12.Why are we arguing over this? Didn’t everyone want prohm gone after year 1? That might have helped him keep his job!
That’s true. Although if Prohm had the skills to navigate such a situation, he’s winning more and perhaps worth keeping. Why are we arguing over this? Didn’t everyone want prohm gone after year 1? That might have helped him keep his job!
