The Fran fade

That is just amazing to realize. Wayne is what now, four coaches ago? Fran is just awful.
Some times the grass isn't always greener.

Before this year, Fran had almost the exact % win wise in conference at Iowa as Alford. They are currently both .589 overall at Iowa.
Fran is a career .588 guy, Alford is a .661 guy.
I know Iowa fans hated Steve but sans Pierre Pierce was he less brash/likeable than Fran? Bryce Alford actually turned out to be a solid player when I thought he'd stink at a power program.

This is the year for Fran to make some noise.

Only looking at this seasons all conference teams it was harder to earn all conference honors in the B1G.

Coaches Selections had 20 honorees for the B1G which included three teams and 5 honorable mention selections while the media had 26 honorees as they had 11 honorable mention players. The Big 12 had sixteen players earn 1st, 2nd or 3rd team and another fourteen earn honorable mention for a total of 30 all conference honorees.

I could only find the one list for the Big 12 and assume it is the coaches list.

It's just a numbers game. Both conferences are consistently in the top 4 if, not top 2 or 3.

Big 12 is obviously deeper because it regularly gets 60% or 70% in the dance. The Big Ten almost never gets the 10-11 teams to match that, it's just not as deep. Part of it is they took Nebraska away.

Likewise it is obviously harder to be top 5 or top 10 player in a conference with 14 teams than 10 teams...since both are regularly ranked in the top 3 or top 4 leagues.

23 players from the B1G earned all conference recognition while 30 players from the Big 12 did. Using 13 scholarships per team that is 12.6% of scholarship B1G players compared to 23.1% of Big 12 players.
Yeah but the Big Ten has worse players

Bingo! Players like Jordan, Connor, Niang are all players only the fanbases like. Everyone else despises them because they come off douche.

Trying to claim Jordan is bad just show a lack of any basketball knowledge. He is a good assist man, and excellent 3 point shooter, and always will knock down important FT's. He isn't a great defender, but that is why he isn't a 1st team All Conference player, he has a hole in his game like 95% of players out there. Jordan isn't big enough or quick enough to be a good defender, but he more than makes up for it be being good at several other things.
I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact he averages barely over 10 ppg. I'd have to check, but since he's not even top 3 on his own team in 3 pt %, I'd assume he's not in the top 15 in the Big 10 either. If all he does well is shoot, and he's not even elite at that, what on earth leads you to believe he could be a 1st team guy?

He's right. What Big 12 teams would Connor McCaffrey play for? And before you can give a smart-aleck response, I'll save you time and say no, he would not play for Iowa State either.
I certainly don't think Connor should be starting either but let's not pretend that every player on a 2-22 Big 12 team would make a BIG 10 roster.

So now donors aren't picking up the Prohm buyout? I was told by a lot of posters here that it was a done deal and that the buyout would be paid for with donor money. What's the deal here?

There's some truth to that.

There's also some truth that the Big Ten would need 10-11 NCAA teams every single year to be as deep as the Big 12 typically is.

(hint: the Big 12 is always significantly deeper in part because the Big Ten took the worst program of all time away from the Big 12)

It's the same math.

It's a stretch to call JoBo a "3 time All Big Ten player" the way that troll is though. They give a million honorable mentions and it's easy to nab one. Agree that getting 1st or 2nd team in a 14 team top league is harder than getting 1st or 2nd team in a 10 team top league.

It is funny that you determine the quality of a conference by how many teams make the NCAA tournament (which is what normal people do). Yet when talking about Fran ISU fans act like making 6 out of the last 8 NCAA tournaments means nothing.

Also I use the All Conference player designation for Jordan because Twins throws it out like it means something, so why shouldn't I? I mean it is obviously much harder to get on the 1st, 2nd, or 3rd team or HM when you have 52 more scholarship players you are fighting for a spot on that team.

You're off on Niang. Just the iowa fanbase disliked him. His last game at KU he was congratulated on a great career by their radio team, I believe they interviewed him. His last game at the B12 tourney, which was a loss to OU and Buddy Heild, Holly Rowe interviewed them together. The nation loved Niang. Now, CM and JB are douchebags and everyone hates them. That you're correct on.

Niang must not have viewed KU as a rival, as he didn't bother to troll them non stop all the time like he does Iowa. Heck I'd bet he, like most ISU fans on this board would root for KU to beat Iowa if they met up in the Sweet 16.
