Iowa Football Recruiting

Okay, that makes so much more sense. I mean the guy was a part time HS coordinator in 2016. Iowa needs to aim a lot higher.

I feel that a RB coach for college is mostly about recruiting. I would be fine with Betts if he proves to be a good recruiter with ties to the Florida area.

He has never recruited before in his life. That means he would literally be learning how to recruit on the job. It would be different if it was an Iowa HS coach where the state is small enough that most coaches know each other.

The dude has 3300 yards and played in the league for nine years. He will have instant cred with high school coaches and athletes like Fred did. I don't think it is as big a weakness with that CV.

This guy gets it. Plus he has ties to Florida and the KC area.

This will be my last post on this because I can’t believe he is even a serious candidate. But I have no idea where you guys are getting this confidence in his ability to recruit from. I mean “he has ties to the KC area” he played there 25 years ago. How many contacts do you seriously think he has from that? This is the same things I always say when people want to hire Sage as a QB coach. Being a nameless guy who hung around in the league for a few years doesn’t compensate for actual coaching experience and networking.

I am simply saying he will have built in credibility. I don't care if he has any success or not.

He only had 3300 yards in 9 seasons. For some reason I thought he actually had a good career

How about receiving yards? Also, he backed up Clinton Portis most of his career. The one year where he was the feature back he got over 1,000 yards.

So in 8 NFL seasons he only produced 2300 yards? Look at all that credibility he brings!

I know they're not going to hire Betts but this makes interviewing a high school coach even more funny to me
