NY6 Bowl appearance vs teams that finished in the AP top 25:
Matt Campbell: 0
Kirk Ferentz: 1, 2, or 3 depending on which question
You're oversimplifying the situation.Am I wrong about what I said?
Iowa Fans: "Oregon didn't deserve to be in a NY6 Bowl."So now it is a good thing to get invited to a bowl over your paygrade and get the **** kicked out of you?
I just don’t understand where the CMC is building a better program than Iowa is coming from. I mean come on it’s only been a few years. Get a bigger sample size before you can make that a legitimate take.I always get a chuckle when I stop by this thread.
The idiocy of the Hok fan base will never cease to amaze me. But then again, remember this is a fan base that embraces players that tell the to "Suck a fat one!"
So the current arguments are - "ISU is building a better program than ToE but that doesn't matter because CMC can't recruit 4 stars" and the back up argument is "Iowa is better because we get beat by better teams in bowl games?"
It is tempting to get frustrated with this stupidity but I am glad to see it. Would hate to see that fan base evolve and become rational, I would miss the entertainment.
CMC is building a program that can regularly compete for Big 12 Titles. With that comes surpassing Iowa, however that's going to obviously take more time. Beating Iowa consistently will help that come to fruition, however it hasn't happened yet. People forget Kirk lost his first 4 games to Iowa State before figuring things out.I just don’t understand where the CMC is building a better program than Iowa is coming from. ISU has really competed for the big 12 just this year? I mean if you count the 2018 season as competing then you have to admit that Iowa competes for big 10 championships most years, right? I just don’t see ISU consistently beating Iowa, I think the rivalry being 5-5 in the next 10 years is the most likely thing to happen, which would be good for both programs imo.CMC is building a program that can regularly compete for Big 12 Titles. Who's coaching Iowa 10 years from now?ISU has really competed for the big 12 just this year? 2 years ago we were a game away from playing in the title game. 3 years ago we were two games away. This year we made it.ISU has really competed for the big 12 just this year? Someone who doesn’t have the last name Ferentz. Also, the staff will most likely look very different in 10 years. Parker likely won’t be the defensive coordinator, O’Keefe won’t be in IC, and KF won’t be at the helm.Who's coaching Iowa 10 years from now?
Going just by the last 20 years, things are going to swing back in Iowa States favor. I'd guess 3, 4 or 5 wins at most in a row before leveling out and going back and forth for some years.Who's coaching Iowa 10 years from now?
I can play this. Iowa was a 2 point conversion away from potentially playing in the title game in 2019 and was 5 points away from reaching it this year.2 years ago we were a game away from playing in the title game. 3 years ago we were two games away. This year we made it.
You'd be 100% correct too. I'm not arguing that Iowa doesn't compete to play for Big 10 titles.I can play this. Iowa was a 2 point conversion away from potentially playing in the title game in 2019 and was 5 points away from reaching it this year.
My guess would be one of these guys: Parker, Woods, Mark or Bob Stoops, maybe Klieman?Who's coaching Iowa 10 years from now?
Sure, I can agree with that.2 years ago we were a game away from playing in the title game. 3 years ago we were two games away. This year we made it.
My argument was saying that Campbell's #1 priority is getting ISU to a level where we can consistently compete to play in the conference championship game. It's hard for a team like Iowa State or even Iowa to consistently play in the game, so all you can do is put yourself in contention and then roll the ball out there.Sure, I can agree with that.
My guess would be one of these guys: Parker, Woods, Mark or Bob Stoops, maybe Klieman?
Neither Stoops nor Parker will be coaching Iowa in 10 years.Bob Stoops will be 70 in 10 years...
Iowa State would have beat Florida or Cincy by more IMO.
I think ISU could have had great chances against some of the other teams like UNC, GA, ND.
I love how Iowa fans cry "Oregon didn't belong in a NY6 Bowl Game" when the last time Iowa was in a NY6, they got absolutely embarrassed and they were the ones who didn't belong. It's also funny how Iowa fans claim it's not their fault they had such an easy schedule in 2015, but somehow it's Iowa State's fault they lined up with Oregon? Lol
