Paul Rhodes to The OSU as Anaylist.

It’s Rhoads.

He’s fine. I would guess Ohio State’s staff is young so having a an older guy to give advice might be a good thing.

Rhoads has always been a good coach. He had some success at ISU but couldn't sustain recruiting at a high level and had a hard time replacing assistants.

Hasn’t this already been discussed?
Yeah but @tolfbfan missed it I think, and he's an Ohio guy and fan of tOSU as well as Toledo, Campbell, and ISU.

I think he wanted us to assure him that Rhoads was a good coach and a good hire for the Buckeyes.

Rhoads is a bargain for tOSU and should bring good value to them. Then he should hopefully get more opportunities going forward because of that success.

Paul is very, very smart. Like very smart.
I also think Paul is a bad coach.
A role like this is probably a great idea on both sides.

I sure did, sorry! But I was very concerned. Only time I will root against The OSU is when ISU plays them.

Nothing to be concerned about unless they make Paul the interim Head coach or something if Day leaves. He's a good defensive coach, but I wouldn't want him as a head coach anytime soon and I don't think he'll get another opportunity unless it's at a lower level.
I think he'd be a decent DC, but probably not at the level of tOSU either. And I don't think he recruits enough to be a top end position coach. Smart guy and super nice though.

Might be a perfect place for CPR. No doubt the guy is smart, and a good coach. Just not great on game day. He really got hurt by the whole the Big 12 is doomed phase.
Paul's not kneel down in Manhattan is what bronzed his legacy. The fact that he had a placard that told him what to (wrongly) do in these situations makes me wonder what else was on it.

This will be a win-win for both parties. I'm rooting for Paul. I do question how much he has kept up with the times at his recent coaching stops, but in an analyst role he can only help.

I think it was CWilly that did a podcast with him when he was in LA. I never thought he seemed like an LA guy but he seemed happy with life.
Hope this works out for him to get a restart.

I was so shocked, I forgot how to spell. What do you all think?
Idk what an analyst is really but for somebody in that kind of minimal role I would assume it’s somewhat of a home run. He’ll have good input for the staff. He’s always been a straight shooter and I assume that hasn’t changed. He’s smarter than he can sound sometimes.

We can eliminate this thread since there is the other one I originally missed. Thanks.

Rhoads' shortcomings here were on the administrative side. His tenure went pretty much like McCarney's. They both put together good staffs and had success, but struggled to reload when their best coaches got plucked. He was the son of a legendary area high school coach. The kneel down flub resulted in disaster due to a RB fumble at the worst possible moment. It was that point in time when the fanbase truly believed we were cursed.

I'm sure he learned a lot from it and would probably find success if given another opportunity. I hope he gets another one, but with the money they're handing out to P5 assistants, he'll never be hurting.
