The Fran fade

Yep, probably a three or four seed now. If they keep slipping, I would take a 6 or even 7 seed over a 4 or 5 seed.
4 or 5 seed is always asking for trouble. I think that this year's tournament could be one of the craziest we've seen due to how seeding is affected by COVID.

Just watch them catch Kentucky in the second round.

Big Blue will unfortunately miss this year's tournament. They're almost as bad as we are. Not kidding either lol. We'd compete with them and Duke this year. We wouldn't beat either team, but it'd be like the TCU game.

Crazy year. Duke, KU, UK and MSU are all down big time.

Bilas had a piece the other night (which I missed) about the bluebloods struggling.

I bet he , probably in a roundabout way, reached the conclusion that I have.
This thing in normal years is set up for them to win and the ongoing national tragedy has thrown that all in the trashcan.

It doesn't really matter this year. Unless you end up on the 8/9 line and bump into Baylor or Gonzaga in round 2. Nobody else is too terribly imposing. Except for Indiana;)

Lol what?
I agree, this is moronic speak. Only reason I can think for him saying that is in a scenario where you are a 6 or 7, you won't play a 1 until the Elite 8. Namely Gonzaga or Baylor. Iowa can beat or get beaten by anybody else, but they for sure couldn't beat either of those teams.

Does a 4 or 5 seed lose more than a 6 or 7 seed?
Since 1985, the 5 seed has never won a national title and there have only been 5 times that a 5 seed hasn't been upset in the first round. In 2019, three of the four 5 seeds even lost.. 60% of the time, 5 seeds win the opening round.

4 seeds fair so much better than 5 seeds, even though there have been a few losses in years past.

Actually, 6 seeds are starting to be bad slots. In the past 10 NCAA tournaments, 6 seeds are only 21-19 in the first round...

From what I found regarding all 4 of those seeds, the margin of victory in the games are INCREDIBLY close.

Man I was so sure Arizona was a 5 seed in 1997 but you're right...they were a 4. To me the 4 and 5 is the same seed so maybe that's why I was off.

I just feel that with this Iowa team they can win or lose to anyone from rank 5-50. If they want to make a deep run I would take my chances with a 6 seed over a 4 or 5 seed. I don't think there will be a ton of difference between a 4-7 seed or even a 11-14 seed this year. After Baylor and Gonzaga, everything else is up for grabs.

Yeah it's crazy that the Big 12 and even the WCC have an elite team and the Big Ten doesn't

It could most definitely be Michigan.. Can't say for sure one way or another until they start playing again.

OR OSU, but I don't think OSU or Michigan are on Gonzaga or Baylor's level. But the tourney is a strange beast and Gonzaga or Baylor could get bounced in the Sweet 16.

Yeah that's what makes the tourney amazing. And I do agree OSU could be the best team too. Outside of ISU and Iowa, Baylor and Gonzaga have been the two teams I've consistently watched and it's incredibly clear they are head over heals better than the rest of CBB this year.

I hope for the sake of the competition in the championship game it's Baylor and Gonzaga. I have a feeling if it's anyone else against either of those teams, the game might end up being lopsided.

Gonzaga can play so many different ways. They can run and gun, they can slow it down, play in the paint, shoot threes, drive the lane etc... But Baylor is so athletic and really positionless in a way as their guys are so interchangeable. Would love to see Gonzaga/Baylor.

Yeah and if it weren't for COVID the national championship game would be Part II of the series because they were supposed to play earlier this year.
