*** Official Iowa State Season Thread ***

I know coaching things like rebounding is on Steve, but these kids have been playing forever. I played 2 years in middle school and know you find a guy and box out. It takes about 5 seconds to find a youtube video with a professional player teaching rebounding. Solomon either is being told to let others get the rebounds, or doesn't give a **** about focusing on it.

Officially, 2-16 in last nine minutes of the game.

I just checked the box score and we were dead even to better than TCU in just about every category...besides rebounding of course. 51-34 there. On the bright side we were 21-24 on free throws.

Other than allowing TCU to get 42% of their missed shots it was a great evening. Sort of like how did you like the play Mrs. Lincoln? :)

The point is that even if he just doesn't care it is on the coach to hold him accountable and make him care.

I think Prohm is a good person but I’m over him as our coach...the West Virginia and Oklahoma losses were frustrating because I wasted to see the guys get rewarded for their effort and it was refreshing seeing us play better...but tonight was flat out PATHETIC..TCU puts up a shot, 3-4 red jerseys stand and watch while a white jersey runs and grabs the ball..if we wouldn’t have ‘attacked’ the glass like total pu***** tonight we would’ve walked out with our first big 12 win.

Felt like there wasn’t one TCU possession in the second half where Iowa State got a defensive rebound after a miss. Seemed like the only times TCU didn’t score were off missed free throws and turnovers.

I like the effort over the last few games. But the talent/coaching isn't there.

At least it was something to watch for a while. Hope they can figure out how to win a game or two.

It pisses me off to hear Chris Williams say that Prohm is the unluckiest coach. He does NOTHING to make a team better. It’s fkn theft to impose this void of “coaching” on this school and fan base. A school with strong history and pride. It’s sickening.

It’s also not true. Was Naz getting hurt and returning unlucky? Was Monte returning for his senior year unlucky? Was stumbling into THT coming to Ames unlucky?

The simple fact is that Prohm is not suited to coach at this level. Frankly, he seems like a better fit as a high school coach.

One game bad rebounding can be a player issue. When it's nearly every game you have a coaching issue, whether that be technique or motivation. Both of those fall under the coaches jurisdiction.

Our defensive rebounding % is 343rd in the country. There are only 347 teams.

I simply will not blame the players for it when it clearly isn't something valued by the staff, whether it be scheme or something else.

It’d be awesome if we had a coach that would call a timeout and draw up a play to get a good bucket
This may be the worst defensive performance that I have ever seen from Solomon. If Conditt can go you have to get him back in there.
it seems like he hasn’t cared in a long time

Not WOULD... COULD.

Situational bball has been 100% ignored by this staff from day 1. Whether its inbound plays, late game situations, end of half, drawing up a play off an inbounds, etc. I just dont think they even practice it. The prior staff made it a priority because its a "win in the margins" thing. Its a huge reason CSP loses ALL the close games and the team looks lost and clueless EVERY DANG TIME when they need a bucket to win.

I wasn't able to watch. One observation and one question.
It sounds like Walker continued his progress.
What happened to GC? Anything serious?

JP has to realize by now that this program is floundering. It's pretty apparent that Prohm's coaching "skills" are minimal, and it doesn't really appear that these kids are playing for him. This is the lowest point in ISU MBB that I can remember for a long, long time.

I agree with you this is an historically bad mbb team. When you go a Full Calendar Year without One Conference WIN...Its time to pull the plug as they say.

Our GREAT Fanbase deserves Championship Basketball....

After the loss last night, I was wondering to myself if all other 9 coaches in the Big 12 were coaching this ISU team - would we still be 2-11. I think the answer is a resounding no. I firmly believe Prohm is the worst coach in the league and it’s not particularly close. These schemes and end of game situations have cost us several games.
