The Fran fade

Ross just said that Connor would have been his guy years ago to be the "tough" one.
He and JBo arent anymore and now it's probably Keegan. :mccaffery:

Downs wants Devries I'm sure but probably can't say it as vocally as he wants
They didn't say his name but said Travis's friend and then they all 3 agreed.

Best season since Davis was there, a month to go, and the next coach is already being talked about. Woof.

Maybe basketball, I haven’t heard much of that, but football he is absolutely horrible. You have no idea of down and distance, where they are on the field or even the score of you start in the middle of the game.

Yes in FB they are lousy. We listen to them when we need something funny to listen to, because they are so bad and such big homers. When you laugh at the other team on air that is just bad work.

" Hawkeyes are now 1-4 in their past five games and just 3-5 in Quadrant 1 opportunities on the season. Beyond that, they're now just 6-6 in the first two quadrants, which makes Iowa the only team in the top 20 of the Top 25 And 1 with both a losing record in Quadrant 1 and a .500-or-worse record in the first two quadrants. "

Being homers is one thing. I want my announcers to be homers. I want John and Eric to want Iowa State to win and to think most calls go against us. ;)

But Dolph is just so bad at the job. Like others have said, when casually listening to a game on the radio, you have no idea who has the ball, whether something good or bad happened, or where the ball is.

Because they can't. They are too limited in what they can do. There are too many things they can't do, like guard athletic teams.
Or guard period. When I have watched them they suck at guarding. They also are at their best when teams struggle to guard Iowa. If a team gets physical with them and guards them close they dont know what to do.

IMO even with CJ on the floor the recipe to beat Iowa is still there. You absolutely make life tough for Garza and concede the lower percentage shot. Between CJ, Weezy, and J-Bo any of those guys can fill it up on any given night. What kills Iowa is having Connor on the floor because you don't have to guard him and he's not getting to the rim.

Oh, the recipe is definitely there. They don't guard well, so teams with some quickness and offensive skill will give them problems. But on the other end of the court, you need a few bigs that can stand up to Garza and make him work for his buckets. And of course don't let them go off from 3.

I love how they make it sound like every play an iowa player makes is superhuman. Electric moves for 3 yard gains, LBs that "tatoo" the ball carrier, etc. I get that iowa plays a boring style of football, but they go overboard trying to spice it up.

Someone needs to explain to me how they are ranked. It is based on preseason expectations and Garza. That is the only explanation.

They are 13-6 over all and now 7-5 in the Big Ten...good for 6th place.

Their best wins are over Purdue, Rutgers, and Minnesota.

There is no reason, based on their play, especially losing 4 of last 5, that they should be ranked in the top 20. None.

When you've been put so high its harder to fall out. It's a joke but whatever they'll keep losing.

Kansas is. 13-7 in overall and 7-5 in the Big 12. They are ranked...oh, wait, they are not ranked. Makes you wonder how the Hoks are top 15. Hell, even Rutgers is rated top 25. The B1G bias strikes again.

They are ranked where they are due to preseason expectations. Not to mention Duke, UNC, Mich St, Kansas are all sub par this year and not ranked at the moment.

If you listen to Dolph call a football by midway through the fourth you start to wonder if there's going to be any survivors.

Does anyone outside the Hawk trolls on here actually think Iowa looks like a top 15 team right now?

They have an A+ player, Couple B to B- players and the rest barely making a C grade.

Exactly. Without Garza this team is probably on the wrong side of the bubble in a normal year. If you take away the only guy in the lineup that can create his own shot they would be pretty easy to guard.

I think I may have figured out what Fran is doing here. We all know he has never won the mythical B1G tournament championship. I think he is trying to rest Garzastein up for that B1G tournament run. Playing all those games in 4-5 days will be tough. The other players seem to rest when they are playing so they should be good for the B1G tournament run.
