The Fran fade

You guys remember a couple weeks ago when Coach K was being a semi jerk (nowhere bad as Fran) to a student reporter? He personally called the guy later to apologize.

It's okay to be human and show emotion. It's okay to make a mistake if you correct it. It's not okay to be a complete d-bag and treat people like they're beneath you and wouldn't understand why you're failing.

All he has to say is "You know Mark, sometimes its a hindsight 20/20 deal. I put him back in and he gets a third foul and I'm handcuffed in the second half. So I decided to leave him out and see how the other guys could manage."

Maybe basketball, I haven’t heard much of that, but football he is absolutely horrible. You have no idea of down and distance, where they are on the field or even the score of you start in the middle of the game.

Yeah I'd say my take is based on basketball. He does a good job. Maybe because Bobby Olson is light years better than Ed the guy that sounds like they pulled him out of the town bar.

My guess is if Fran is sitting the best offensive player in the nation at 2 fouls for 12 minutes he'd bench him until the final couple minutes with 3 lol.

If it were me, I would have sat Luka until about 4-5 minutes to go in the first half see if they can go on a run. Tell him if he has to, just let a layup go vs. a dumb foul.

If he gets a third early in the second half, sit him until the under 11 timeout then play him to the end. What's the difference at that point. Foul him out contributing vs. waste his time on the bench.

I would think Garza is a good and smart enough player he can play without fouling. I remember Hoiberg always trusted guys like Niang to play with foul trouble.

Both Indiana runs happened with about 3 minutes left (same the first game also). So really, they held their own until the last couple minutes. Up until that point he looked like he had made the right decision, although I would have probably popped him in on the last 4 minute timeout and figure if he’s fresh, he can move better and not foul.

Boy, if I were an Iowa fan it'd be a toss up on what I'm most mad about:

A) Sitting your NPOY for 13 minutes in the first half as the other team destroys the lead you've built;

B) Insisting on playing your kids major minutes when there are others better suited for their minutes;

C) Refusing to try to get an immediately eligible PG when the team is literally one playmaking PG away from being a Top 5 team;

D) Your coach turning into a raging ***hole the moment anything goes against him.

#5 is amazing, hopefully their minutes can incresase as the season progresses

Are the majority of Garza’s fouls offensive? From what little I have seen of him he elbows defenders to get closer to the bucket but is so slow on defense that he just kind of stands there being tall.

From what I've seen he really doesn't get in much foul trouble but if he does its because he's gassed and doesn't stay vertical on defense
