Iowa Football Recruiting

Iowa State is going to be middle of the pack when they lose Purdy!
Too bad for ISU Purdy just isn't clutch. Instead he is just a stat stuffer that couldn't' come through in the clutch.
He was bad overall vs top 45 defenses. 1-5 isn't good is it?

I mean if you wanna pick nits and move TCU to a good game column, be my guest. I'll move the Oklahama St. game to the bad game column as Purdy really pulled a Purdy in the game. Good stats, but cost his team the game with TO after TO.
Classic Purdy. Pad his stats, and not come through in the clutch.
Purdy wasn't very good in the clutch, so I'm assuming close wins over ISU, Nebraska, and Minnesota would have all become losses. Iowa would have been 7-6 with Purdy, but his yardage number would have been higher than Stanley.
Purdy's MO this year was to fail in the clutch vs Iowa, OSU, Baylor, and OU. No way Purdy makes the throws Stanley does in the clutch to get into FG range.

did you not read the article at all, defensively we have been playing a lot of underclassman, so there will be no drop off there, Campbell has made the comment we might not have even been playing our best TE yet in Easton Dean, plus add a year of development for Moore, RB I trust the staff in developing Brock or Sanders for duty after Hall if he does in fact leave this year. and the bit we have seen of Dekkers. that 7 win team had a lot of bad bounces that season. but then again we don't get to play in the little 10 west.

No, I didn't read the article. If Dean is the beat TE, why isn't he playing? If you think the next LB trio is going to come in and be no drop off or growing pains from the current guys, I got a bridge to sell you.

I love Brecht as a player but if I was a betting man I would bet he never plays one football game at Iowa. With the speeds his fastball hits somebody will draft him in the top 3 rounds of the MLB draft.

Ditto on Brecht. Selfishly I hope he comes to Iowa and plays baseball and football, but I think he should go the MLB route.

ISU was a 7 and 8 win team WITH Purdy for two years.
I'll give you the 2019 year, but in 2018 Brock didn't play until the Oklahoma State game. We went into that game 1-3 and Brock led us to a 7-2 record after that with the two losses coming @ #13 Texas and vs. #12 Wazzu in the Alamo Bowl.

Ok, so with pretty much the exact same team, but a year younger ISU won 7 games. Yet you think with a new starting QB, no proven TE, no proven RB, and no proven defensive players there won't be a drop off. yeah, right.
A lot of reaching here considering 2021 hasn’t happened yet and not knowing who will use the extra year.

ISU (again) will have plenty of good defensive players in 2022.

That's middle of the pack? Iowa's a middle of the pack Big Ten West team under Kirk?

7 or 8 wins can get you toward the top of the league if you win all of your conference games. Typically 7 or 8 wins will put you around the middle of the pack. Depends on the year and how strong the conference is that year. 10 wins last year for Iowa put them in 3rd place in the Big10 West, so nothing is a given. In ‘18 and ‘19 8 wins in the Big12 was good for 3rd place in the entire conference.

And in 2018, an 8 win Northwestern was in the B1G Championship game...

Don't you think Iowa State's next QB will more clutch than Purdy?

What no mention of Bruce trying to flip Sanders? Iowa must have just given up and thrown in the towel. May have thought since 2022 doesn't look good right now they better get a game plan together for it.
