The Fran fade

Iowa and Illinois have always been rivals, it really ramped up with the whole Deon Thomas stuff. The problem is Iowa sucked so hard under Lick and Ill. has been down so it hasn't been as intense. Last year certainly changed that.
Iowa and Illinois are rivals. Kind of like Iowa State and West Virginia are rivals.

See yah top 10 ranking!

It was interesting to listen to Gary Dolphin and Bobby Hansen in their interview of Mad Fran after the game last night. They were walking on eggshells the whole time. I am sure they both were glad it was a "zoom" interview. The longer the interview went, the more Fran was heating up.o_Oo_Oo_OThey recognized it and went very easy on the questions.

Fran is doing such a good job with all the talent and experience that returned. If not for the officiating Iowa would win a national title.
Honestly I thought Iowa caught a lot of breaks last night. That 5 second call that wasn't real was huge and Cockburn was getting hammered down low. If Iowa's bench didn't beg for the goaltend call it wouldn't have happened

Taking off my Cyclone glasses:

1. Garza is great to watch on offense. Moves very effortlessly. Has a great touch.
2. Garza struggles on defense with quick bigs. Illinois's big men could spin move past him pretty easily.
3. Iowa lacks a killer go-to dog type (think Kane/Niang) at the end of games.
4. Fran still plays too many guys.

4. Yeah weird spot for him to throw in some no name freshman in that type of game to come in and miss the front end of a one and one
