Went to the home opener last night and I was surprised. It was good solid basketball with defense!

All in all, the Energy appear to be a balanced team. I forgot what it was like to watch Stinson in person, great vision, great passing, great finisher around the basket, terrible outside shot!

I think I will go to some more games.

I was there also. I was dissapointed that there weren't more people - especially since it was the home opener. Its hard for me to get into a sport when the crowd is so quiet. I'm glad you had fun though.

My favorite part was Benny The Bull, and it's too bad he won't be there again for a while....

I went to two games last year to see Curt and Will play and the basketball was terrible. All about individuals. If it's changed it may make for a better experience.

You know when you sit court side and don't care to watch the game, it's not a good game.

I am planning to take in some games this season. As with the AHL, Des Moines is blessed to have an NBA-D League team. Omaha, Kansas City & St. Louis don't even have D-League teams. The NBDL is something Des Moines should be proud of.

The "AAA" minor league sports, and the support of them by the community are the first step in proving that Des Moines and central Iowa can grow beyond our near-exclusive fixation on college sports.

If Des Moines hopes to have another AFL team or a aspire to luring a major league team we have to show there is enough fan support and ticket sales first.

Yeah, he was a highlight for sure.

That and some guy on the other team, whose first name was Magic! Not making this up and he played at a community college, classic.

Sadly, I agree.

If we could somehow find a top league team in "X" sport, they would be a success. Getting a professional team to locate in Des Moines is beyond a long shot, but if one was to come it would be a success. Iowans would go crazy and support any top flight team that would come here.

(Exp. Iowa Barnstormers in the AFL. There were huge crowds, the games were awesome, & the team was loved. That success won't be replicated until another top flight team comes.)

This is compounded by the fact that we are naturally and stereotypically cheap people and have strong support for 2 large division I schools. Fitting a number of Semi-pro teams in there somewhere is hard to pull off. I wish it weren't the case but unfortunately it is. (Baseball is the exception, I-cubs do well due to no competing sports and bc it's an American pastime)

btw. I found Chops tickets Center Ice, 3rd row for $6.50, 10 mins. before the game. That was a blast!
