The Fran fade

“He seems to have a good list of offers and a few pretty sweet mixed (highlight) tapes. Maishe looks like he can jump out of the gym and shoots it pretty well. I’m excited to get to meet him and get to work next year.”
-Ryan Kriener
“The thing that impresses me the most about Maishe is his overall skillset. He’s a multiple position player who can drive, pass, shoot, and handle the ball. He has tremendous athletic ability who can play above the rim. He can play an up-tempo game, but also has enough skill to play in the half-court. "
-Fran

Thread is now locked, even Gonzo really liked Maishe:

I would be willing to bet 10,000,000 Schrute bucks that Keegan will be an All Big 10 performer by the time he graduates.

First team, second team, third?

Do you think Fran or Frank is more responsible for Luka's growth?

I'd let go of Fran and hire Luka then. Probably more money than he'd earn professionally even with the million dollar shoe deal he turned down.
I know you aren't saying he won't though maybe you're but I'm positive Luka hangs around the NBA awhile. I would even put me posting on here on the line. I know that really penalizes the readers mostly but I'm confident. Might be as a 10th to 12th man but he will have more than a cup of coffee in league

He could have a cup, sure. I haven't see enough defensively yet to establish much more than that. The leap from freshman to now, no one probably saw, so I won't count him out.

Have to go Frank if it's 1 or the other.

Fair enough. He did post a lot of workout videos, so you could very well be right.
You can't improve as much as luka has unless there's something happening behind the scenes of normal development. Furthermore to your point Fran hasn't shown me hes some exceptional developer. Not saying he's not at least good at it. Some guys gett better others don't coaches probably get to much credit or blame either way. I will say however fran is doing everything he can to center everything around him offensively. Sometimes teams have a great big and they don't get him the ball enough. Theirs a clear goal most the time down.

Will he ever average more than 5.0 in anything (minutes, points, rebounds) during a season?
ISU has at least six guys in the league right now that meet that criteria.

I am not linking Monte, THT or Halliburton because they are (or will be) well above that level.

Very fair points.

I think so yes. Yes he struggles defensively but i haven't seen many that can effectively guard him. He's not going to get near the attention he gets now in the NBA. People compare him to Kaminsky and Hansbrough but i think he's betted offensively than both and probably a push with Kaminsky defensively

So, IF (big IF) he sticks on a team and is their 12th or 13th guy, he will average over 5.0 minutes and points per game? That's pretty optimistic.

Maybe but the NBA plays a ton of guys. Because of the long season and more cautiousness to injuries or wear and tear. I personally believe 12th or 13th man is his floor. I think at very least he will be that but i think he likely is more like the 3rd big option for most teams or maybe 9th man to equate it. What do you think overseas guy?
