Nothing dramatic here but worthy of more discussion:

- OSU's two key players were transfers from Georgia and OU. Where are the talking heads from iwashitty saying they aren't doing things the "right way?"

- If the NCAA allows an anytime transfer without sitting out, this could lead to the rich getting richer like OSU did with these two players. Just think about it: Alabama saves 5 spaces a year to poach someone from a 500 team to "come win a nat'l championship?" Many players, like Rose (just an example), who become great and can go win a title.

There are always +'s and -'s with these rules when they get changed.

Maybe Matt Campbell saves 5 spots for outstanding kids from mediocre teams and says come compete for a National title.

I mean Justin Fields was basically pushed out of GA. It’s not a choice he made to leave Ga to go to OSU to have a chance to win a title.

Just coincidental because of the topic - they are the only fan base I know that says they are above taking transfers.

The transfer portal is going to be very interesting this year. Every team can see that there are needs that can quickly be filled with a transfer. ISU is getting a transfer kicker, which they need. If there is a good OL or DL out there that wants a chance to play for a winner, that would be good too. ISU needs some help at WR too. The guys they have struggle getting open with man coverage. The freshman Jackson showed some signs early, but got hurt and never returned.

Sermon for tOSU is a perfect example of a guy transferring and shining at another school. He was pretty decent at OU, but has run wild for tOSU this year.

Agree with all of this.

What makes the NFL is the attempt to reshuffle talent every thru the draft, pay caps, etc. Everyone stays engaged and has chances.

This could result in even more tilting of the best players going to certain schools vs now. Could this be beneficial to the Clones, yes. Will the odds be greater for Alabama to enhance its richness? Yes, imo.

Yes, the rich are always going to get richer in this kind of situation. Pretty soon we will see coaches out blanketly advertising for players. "Well we have a really good team, but we could sure use an experienced LT, like that guy at Iowa to get to the championship this year....

Alabama also loses a lot of players every year to the transfer portal. 4 and 5 stars who cannot crack the starting lineup. For example, Alvin Kamara for the Saints started out at Alabama. The kid from UC who had the long TD run for the Bearcats in the Peach Bowl was an Alabama transfer. On the flip side, they rarely have incoming transfers. Mullaney (the Oregon State receiver a few years back) and Pappanastos (kicker who transferred from Ole Miss) are the last two I remember.

I dunno. It could have an opposite effect as well. There are tons of four and five star guys who never see the field at their particular schools because they are three deep with those kinds of guys. This allows them to look at situations to find a perfect fit with opportunities to contribute at maybe a key position that pushes their new team to a championship.

7 years of CFP:
Alabama- 6 appearances
Clemson- 6 appearances
Ohio State- 4 appearances
Oklahoma- 4 appearances

OH NOES!!! TRANSFERS ARE GOING TO THROW OFF THE DELICATE BALANCE!!!!

I sure hope it becomes the latter. Look at guys like Purdy, that actually had an offer from the Tide. Do you think he would even be the 3rd string QB at Bama? Probably not. Just have to hope that more of those 4-5 star guys see what ISU is doing and give the Clones a chance. Over the last few year ISU has been in on some of these guys and they went to tOSU, Iowa, etc. Maybe with an established relationship ISU can get a couple of those guys.

Transfer restrictions need to be loosened. A lot.
Agreed. Take yesterday's situation with Texas. All of those recruit signed LOIs less than a month ago, with the expectation that Herman would be the coach. Herman's staff. Herman's scheme. Herman's plan for them. Now he's gone. The terms of the the recruitment of those players is inarguably changed. Yet, if they want to explore other options, they are subject to punishment at the school's discretion, even though it was the school that changed the parameters of the deal. That's complete ********. And it needs to be changed. I don't care if you think it will result in the rich getting richer. That's no reason to keep a BS rule like that.

Not to mention, it’s ridiculous to be so strict on what will shape the life of a kid based on a decision they made at 17. If I go to a school and I don’t like it, I can go to a different school to study, no problem. If they sign a LOI and things change, like your scenario, or even they’re just home sick, or their position coach is just a massive *******, or even that they’re not in the depth chart where they want to be or whatever it might be, why are we so severely punishing them for trying to make their lives better?
