Cyclones Earn All-America Honors

Huh. Maybe it less too soon after I woke up, but I didn’t see a single Cyclone listed on PFF’s All American team. Three teams, plus Honorable Mentions. Deuce Vaughn made it, Breece didn’t.

Shows the limitations of their system.

What is PFF? Drop some knowledge on me @Aclone!

Four selections for the Clones!
I still don’t understand Ossai getting first team over Rose. Rose was Big 12 DPOY. Rose got robbed by not getting first team.

Really stupid mainly because Ossai is not a LB. Not at all. He’s an undersized DE with his hand in the ground. Very good player, but he’s basically Will McDonald. In theory the position he plays for UT is a hybrid, but he does basically nothing an actual LB does.

Sporting News has named Hall a first team All-American and Rose a second team AA

The Sporting News is one of the five "official" selectors used to determine Consensus and Unanimous All-America Honors along with the Associated Press, Walter Camp Football Foundation, American Football Coaches Association and the Football Writers Association of America.

If you are named first team to all five, you are deemed a Unanimous All-American. A point system is used to determine the Consensus All-Americans, but generally if you are named first team to at least three of the five lists, you are a Consensus All-American.

In its history (per Wikipedia), the Cyclone football program has had 16 players honored 24 times as a first-team All-American by one of those five selectors, with three Cyclones receiving Consensus All-American honors a total of four times (Troy Davis earned the honor twice).
