Power five should set up a system similiar to pro sports. How about if you win the national championship you lose five scholarships, one per year for five years. In championship game, lose three over three years. In playoff, two, over two years. Team ranked fifth and sixth, one. There should be enough votes to get this done, shouldnt there? That would be 14 players going to other schools. This just popped in my looney mind. Merry Christmas.

You're crazy.... but I like you... you're crazy man....

if you win superbowl you pick last. In Ohio, we have a competitive balance rule. It works well. Better than just letting high schools who recruit get the reward without a downside. Just saying. We got to think outside the box or college football is going to implode. Maybe with some changes, coaching may actually matter as much as it should.

May as well have something to counterbalance all of the additional practices and workout time—and national publicity—Playoff teams are getting.

Merry Christmas!

Everybody gets a trophy
Now, Now, something like this was done years ago when scholarship limts were higher and the blueblood would just stockpile recruits so others did not get them. This just balances the talent alittle and forces coaches to actually coach better. Some bluebloods have 2-3 real games a year. There is nothing wrong with ensuring alittle competitive balance and then letting the games be played.

Unless you are adding scholarships to the bottom 6 teams, this would be boiled down to less kids getting their school paid for.

5 champs + top 3 ranked teams in the old BCS scoring system. This wouldn’t be perfect but it would take the biased committee out of it.
Maybe a push for something radical like my plan would have the bluebloods think an 8 team playoff looked good.

I think for most fans they are getting tired of the championship game (more years than not) being Alabama versus Clemson. I'm certainly tired of this. I think that's been the matchup in 4 out of the last 8 years?

Kinda sucks. Also sucks when I think someone mentioned only 9 programs TOTAL have ever made the college playoff. Time to expand to 8 teams - then if it still ends up being the similar two at the end, at least more programs had the shot!

Merry Christmas

Other plan: 1) only 1 team per conference in playoff and it has to be conference champ. You can decide champ with championship game or outright regular season and play everybody. Stop trying to game it by ducking each other to get 2 teams in. 2) expand to 6 and give 1 spot to best G5/unaffiliated team (they could have short playoff...better than junk non cons for them), top 2 teams get bye. Try to limit any Eye Test effect.

or, if you were in the playoffs then the next season you start the year playing a team from other side of playoff. At least gives half of playoff teams a loss early and resets things a bit.

I wonder if and how title 9 would push back against something like that
There is no descrimination toward any individual. You still have the opportunity to be recruited by any school. Reduction in scholarships would be against a particular college football program. That has been done due to violations many times.
