Iowa Football Recruiting

What I don't understand is why you guys hate Purdy. I know it's because the hype he gets but you guys don't seem to hate Hall who gets more hype than him

Don't hate Purdy at all. He is a really good QB and would've been a major upgrade at Iowa this year. Hall is just on another planet. Kind of a Reggie Bush and Saquon Barkley kind of player. He is amazing.

McDonald:
- 8.5 sacks
- 10.5 TFL
- 11 games played

Nixon:
- 5.5 Sacks
- 13.5 TFL
- 8 games played

Both have similar sack per game percentage and Nixon has a way better TFL per game percentage. And before any clone fan uses yeah but holding, both of these guys get mugged. McDonald is held quite a bit from what I’ve seen, but so is Nixon.
The hawks also played 1 team with a winning record lol. But yea, keep pushing the narrative that Nixon is the best Defensive player in the state

Fair enough. I agreed with Campbell that I thought Purdy actually played pretty well Saturday. His mobility was the only reason we had a chance to win the game

Huh, and yours was against Northwestern...double yikes. Basically the only game against a top 25 team and an "L". I'm sure he would have been great against Indiana or Ohio State.
Huh...No one is comparing Petras to Purdy. Purdy didn't show up in the biggest game of his career at ISU. The conference championship would have been talked about for decades.

What??? From the little I saw, he wasn't very good. Your defense is what allowed you a chance to win that game, not Purdy. He threw two horrible INTs that I saw in the second half and I guess he threw another awful one in the first half. His biggest problem is throwing the ball away when there is nothing there. He likes to throw jump balls and it comes back to bite him.

He threw for 322 while completing 68% of his passes, had 33 rushing yards that were huge and was running for his life all game

And he also threw three really bad INTs too. That was the difference in the game IMO. ISU's defense owned OK in the second half.

Pretty high praise there. As much as I love Hall, not sure I would put him on their level, but close for sure. You think Hall finally breaks ISU's first round draft drought? I personally think he does

Beat Texas and Oklahoma in the same year. When's the last time Iowa even played Ohio State and Michigan in the same year?

That's a tough one. RBs aren't really valued very much in the draft and that is probably the easiest position to fine quality at in the NFL. I think he does because he is such a threat as a runner and receiver.

Yes, and he extended several plays by his mobility. With Purdy, you have to take the positives with the negatives. Unfortunately the negatives in this case were just slightly more than the positives. It happens. Regardless, ISU isn't in the CCG itself without Purdy.

His first INT wasn't actually bad. Pretty bad luck. Threw it at Allen, the defender was holding his arm down and Allen tried to one hand catch it, bounced off and over him and the defender like 10 yards behind him made a great play. Even Purdy's second INT wasn't terrible. He had Kolar on the correct play, he just needs to throw it further towards the pylon so it either goes out of bounds or Kolar is the only payer who can catch it. For a junior though, you think he would have known to throw it harder so I agree to some degree that it wasn't great, just not horrible.

Yep I agree with that. But, to play devils advocate here, you said Hall is as good as Barkley who was the number 2 overall pick only 2 years ago. So by what you're saying he should at least be a top 5 pick. I don't think he goes that high personally, unless it's a weak QB or DE draft. I think he is a top 15. Maybe top 10.

Well I feel he is pretty close to that level on the field, but not sure he will be able to do at the Combine what Barkley did. Barkley dominated the combine.

Yea I have no idea what his combine would like. I HIGHLY doubt he is a freak like Barkley, especially his jumping and squatting. That dudes has to be from Wakanda. Regardless, Hall has the on field success and tape to show he is a first round pick so if he test decent, I still feel he is a top 15 pick

Can't really remember when it happened. But Hall took a little dump off and did a jump cut that was so fast that is reminded me of Barkley. He went from zero to top end speed in like one or two steps.

Purdy is a good QB no doubt about it. There is no doubt that Purdy pooped his pants Saturday vs OU as Miller and Condit said. These aren’t mutually exclusive things.
