Not sure who's coming back. Lillibridge and Reyes are being mentioned.

So, tentatively, it's Vazquez and Logan for Reyes, Lillibridge and another prospect.

I'd have take Jurrjens though....heh

i guess that would make sense. Pretty much absolutely no reason alexi shouldn't be playing his natural position. He's so long.

Um, the Sox now have the payroll flexibility and the prospects to get such a Peavy......just thrown that out there.

Um, Jake Peavy has said numerous times he doesn't want to go the AL....just throwing that out there.

And that doesn't mean it can't happen. The fact that the Sox could take on his entire contract and still offer an enticing package of prospects would probably interest the Pads. Throw in the fact that Chicago is one of his "preferred cities", and maybe he'd take a look at the Sox.

in any event, this frees up room for the sox to get starting pitching. which we need badly. Otherwise, the trade was kinda a nobody for nobody trade. We get another infielder, which we already have lots of. Alexi has a spot somewhere in the infield (hopefully ss) and everyone else gets to compete for the other two. Getting younger. Which is good. Maybe tough too. This Flowers guy who's a minor league catcher looks like a good grab. AJ won't be around forever, and although we keep Toby around and he likes staying around as a backup, eventually some spot on the major roster will open up.

I wouldn't expect Toby back. Flowers has also played some 1B, and it sounds like he isn't a defensive stud by any means. His projected arrival to the big leagues is 2010, and we'll have spots opening up at catcher, 1B, and DH, so he seems to be a really good fit for us.

I'd expect the Sox to add one somewhat proven starter and let Richards, Poreda, and Marquez (Swisher trade) battle for the 5th spot.
