OU improved, what about ISU

Yeah, that was more of what I meant. Brock moving laterally or forward to avoid pressure makes better decisions than when retreating from the line of scrimmage.

Now that he's healthy, I like the RPOs a lot. They seem to settle him down. Plus, the defenders have to play very disciplined, or they will end up seeing number 28 or number 15 celebrating a TD on the Jumbotron

I think having a solid back up helps too.

He's been flat out dealing ever since halftime of the Baylor game. A lot of that has to do with the OL improving. The IWCC kid (Winfrey?) gave our inside guys fits last time, but they have improved quite a bit since then. I'm a little concerned about Perkins, who may be the best edge rusher in the conference. Foster has had an all-conference type season at LT, so that should be a battle.

It's obvious that to stop ISU, you need to limit Hall and get Purdy to scramble and make mistakes. Very few teams have been able to do both.

In accordance with Big 12 Conference football game interruption guidelines, the Oklahoma at West Virginia game scheduled for December 12 has been canceled as WVU is shutting down its football operations for seven days.

Although Oklahoma is unable to complete all of its conference games, it has secured a berth in the Dr Pepper Big 12 Championship game on Saturday, December 19 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

Yeah I'm interested in what Heacock and Co. do to combat that. It's not that ISU let's him slip out, but that OU picks the linebacker/safety responsible for him. I'm not an expert, but I don't see a way to defend it within our system as I see it. Somebody might just have take some risks with the run blitz and underman ourselves in the box within the five.

This, this, this. Tarique Milton has elite speed and would start for all teams in the country not named Alabama/Clemson.

He's a serious difference maker. He played one snap in the first game it looked and took a short pass 30 yards. His YAC is outrageously good.

Are you talking about a pick with a pass across the line of scrimmage or a block on a pass behind the line? Because the former is illegal and should be flagged (although) they miss this call more than they make it).

One easy way to handle the dump passes is if the back tries to slip out around the line is the backer assigned to him blows him up right away. It either looks like the back tried to stop a blitz, or if it was play action the backer just took the fake. A Dlineman can also grab on a play fake and mess up the play. If the play in at or behind the line of scrimmage, there is no PI and you can drop the receiver if the ball is in the air.

I don't think you understood what I was saying, but I have no disagreement with anything you said here. However, if a receiver or TE is picking the LB or S responsible for the Fullback it is still going to be tough for him to blow up the FB.
 
I rewatched the game and forgot how many penalties we had in the first 3 quarters. I think it was around 75 yards of mostly avoidable penalties. Illegal formation, late hits, that sort of thing.
Brock actually played a pretty terrible game. 12/24 for 254 yards (with one of these being a slant to X that went for 83 yards). A lot of throws into coverage.
I forgot how much we made #44 our ***** in pass defense. We picked on him most of the night. I see a lot more of that on Saturday.

so ya OU has probably gotten better, we have by leaps and bounds as well.

This one in particular makes me nervous. It was pretty obvious Radley-Hiles was guilty of holding, PI, etc. on each of those plays. However I watched other OU games this season and he played the receivers pretty much the same way and rarely got flagged. If we get a crew that swallows their hankies he goes from goat to hero in the game playing exactly the same way.

I think we have improved more than OU. They had some players come back from injury, which was an immediate injection of talent. Our entire team, starters to back ups is better. This team is getting better every moment of every day. Can't wait to watch us kick their ass.

For the record probably the biggest returns were back from suspension rather than injury.

Technically it's probably a block, as you put. It's been awhile since I rewatched the game.

Who knows though. If they decide to call a hold or two on OU's slow-ass on-line against Will MacDonald and Co. it might balance out.

I won't be holding my breath on that one either. They were holding regularly in the games I watched as well and the hankies rested secure in the zebras' pockets.
