Tough day for EIU hoops hopes

Now tell us how ISU's season will play out.
ISU will struggle from the 3 spot most of the year. It will take awhile for them to play as a cohesive team. But there will be moments they'll look good. We will lose a number of games down the stretch in the last minute or two because that seems to be CSP's pattern...
...on a side note, don't be all butthurt about a prediction on Iowa. They are a very good team. A really good shooting team apparently. But seasons usually end from a bad shooting night in the NCAA tournament if you don't bring top notch defense...and Iowa hasn't been that. Play defense like MSU or Wisconsin, they'll have a great chance.

So what you are saying is if you slow down Garza then there is a snowballs chance in hell of the above occurrence happening with regularity.

Playing against a top 3 team in the nation, it's often a pick your poison situation for the defense.

I watched 3/4 of the game. My takeaways

Frederick and Wieskamp were great

Bohannon struggled against pressure but hit a lot of 3's. He's so awful defensively

Nunge and Garza struggled

Iowa's defense is bad

Fran's kids are terrible

I agree about Frederick and Wieskamp being great last night.

I thought Bohannon handled the pressure just fine for the most part, but he did have a few TOs on bad passes. His dribbling and getting the ball up the court was fine. He is bad defensively

Nunge struggled I agree. Garza was a beast as usual. He got off to a bad shooting start with a lot of his shots being half way down and then rimming out. But he also finished strong and got the entire NC frontcourt into foul trouble which was key for Iowa. He also finished with 16 and 14 with 4 blocks and he did a great job of passing out of double teams, which was key for getting those open three point looks.

Iowa's defense is bad I agree.

Frans's kids know their roles. Connor doesn't need to shoot. Just take care of the ball, play defense and rebound. Patrick needs to supply energy off the bench. They don't need to do anything more than that.

Iowa has a good team, but still not sold on their defense being good enough to justify their ranking. Still thinking they are a top 20 team and get a 3-5 seed when it is all said and done, which is still a great season.

Patrick's role is to come in and chuck up air balls?

That was a horrible looking shot. His job is to come in and play defense, rebound and be a hustle guy. If he happens to be open, take the shot. Him and Wieskamp are Iowa's two most athletic players.

He shot 3 threes in 11 min

But part of his role he understands so well is to come in and chuck up threes?

Maybe, maybe not. Not a big enough sample size yet. He did take one bad shot that I remember, but can't really remember the other two in relation to the game.

He's taken 13 threes in 4 games

Will see how it goes going forward, I like what he brings to the court in his limited playing time thus far and he is only a freshman. He is very athletic and is 6 foot 8 and still has a long time left at Iowa.

Seems to me like part of his role is having a green light to shoot as much as possible by his dad

LOL, you think Fran has ever put the red light on someone for shooting a shot?
Maybe not. Probably a big reason for his lack of success as a coach. If you're telling a 15% 3 point shooter to get up as much shots as possible that's not good lol
