Narveson to Transfer

But we need to be better than 16.2% - over 10% worse than the next team (Kansas). 40% is a good benchmark that would help our game management considerably.
I don't disagree. But people can make that point without putting totally made up statistics that aren't even close to reality and totally unreasonable in their argument.

Was at the Nebraska 23-23 tie game and everyone from back then remembers Tom Goedjen's missed XP that would have given us a 24-23 lead. Almost no one, other than me, remembers the Nebraska kicker also missed an XP earlier in that game. Goedjen was a good kicker, I'll say that even if he did hit on my gal at the Cave Inn one night. ;)
"Cave In"! Now somebody's speaking my language :D

Fair enough. But with the way kids are being specialized these days you'd think there would be some kicking academy somewhere churning out Mason Crosby's one after the other by now. Maybe I need to develop a business plan and get some investors...
Keep in mind this is a group of athletes that tear their acl's celebrating.

I personally would go for the touchback every time. But if they are going for a strategy of baiting a return, maybe don’t be so stubborn that you can’t change your strategy if the returner is one of the best in the country.

Yes, I can sort of understand wanting to get someone behind the 25 on the kickoffs, but it would be nice to have that guy that can blast it out of the back of the endzone and avoid the drama most of the time.

As good as this year has been. This is really Iowa State of us. The back up kicker goes and becomes one of the best in the country. Glad he is able to go do a good job. We could really use him this year. Oh well.
It shouldn't be a huge surprise. He was a very highly rated kicker coming out of high school and he was quoted somewhere as saying that he didn't really work as hard as he should have at Iowa State. That points to success elsewhere when he had already figured that out.

I wish him all the best.

So without a special teams coordinator.... do we even have a kicking specialist that works with the kickers and punters during practice.... working on their form, power, accuracy, etc?

Watching us kick and punt during games.... you would think that they aren't getting any coaching during the year.... just practicing by themselves during practice.
