Tough day for EIU hoops hopes

Garza has really saved Fran's career. I would hate to see where Iowa would be right now without him. A roster full of Fran's kids and legacy recruits from the state of Iowa could be Lickliter-era levels of bad.
If Weiskamp isn’t back next year, it may get ugly.

Don't care how it is happening, just glad it is. Garza is a generational college player for a program like Iowa. Got to enjoy him while you have him. May never see a better offensive player in my lifetime.
You saying ever or at Iowa for your lifetime?

BJ played 130 games at Iowa.

Jordan played in his 115th game at Iowa last night.
So you think Jorbo is better than BJ Armstrong? BJ played in the NBA you know. Won championships. This is a pretty bold claim you're making if so.

ISU basketball fans, 2 games into the season, are left analyzing Jordan Bohannon's 2 point FG percentage and speculating whether the coach of an 0-4 Mountain West team would become ISU's next head coach.
And Hawk fans in what could potentially be their best season in 30+ years spend all of their time on a rival's message board stroking their own ego to feel good about it.

I have no idea how you interpreted my post as saying Bohannon is better than BJ was.

He has more assists in fewer games while at Iowa.

Not just at Iowa? You don’t watch others teams I take it.

I'm talking about at Iowa. Garza is the best offensive player I've seen at Iowa and I doubt I'll ever see a better one. This is historical and need to enjoy it while you have it.

You're bad at this. Arguably worse on here than you are on Twitter from what I've seen

Ok, I will give you that possibility. I don’t watch many Hawkeye games but figured Roy Marble and a couple of those could be. Garza’s advantage over the others is there really is not another offensive threat on the court to pull the ball away. If he had an Armstrong, and there was another good post or forward on that team, he not not be getting the points that he is.

I think Uthoff could have been but doesn't have the intensity that Luka obviously has. I think Jarrod was a very natural player.

Maybe so, but he is very efficient and not just a chucker. Marble was really good too, but I think Garza is more of an offensive force.

Freddie Brown and John Johnson were a tough combo back in the 70s. Johnson averaged 28 points a game in 1070 and Freddie Brown averaged 28 points a game in 1971. They later became teammates again with Seattle and won an NBA championship in 78-79.

I would say the top five is something like this for offensive players at Iowa in no order.

Freddie Brown
John Johnson
Roy Marble
Luka Garza

Then for fifth maybe Don Nelson/Sam Williams.

Garza is arguably the greatest offensive player in the history of the State of Iowa. Not saying "best player" or most "athletic". But if the goal is putting the ball in the basket he is fairly unstoppable. Numbers speak for themselves and he appears even better this year than last year. Obviously interested to see numbers against better competition.

Woolridge might be a good choice for the 5th spot. He was the first player in conference history, not sure if it has been done since, to lead the league in scoring and assists the same season.

Fran inherited a program in the dumpster and has them at pre season #5 this year. Prohm inherited a preseason #7 team and has turned Fred’s program into a dumpster fire.

I enjoy watching Garza play, if your a fan of basketball, how can you not? Iowa is going to have a really good season this year and you should enjoy it. I don't think they are a final four team, simply due to the amount of usage that Garza has, is too reliant on one player. See below link that shows usage per player. He is #7 overall in the nation with every player (minus 1) with only 1 game played, vs. his 3. Not to mention all but 2 are from mid majors as well. I bet he is top of that list all season long. I look back to the 2014 season where Niang broke his foot and really de-railed any chance of gettting to the FF. That team had Monte, Naz, Thomas, Ejim & Kane (3 future NBA players & 2 overseas players) I just don't see that type of quality depth from this Iowa team. There area a lot of talented big men in the B1G this year, but i'm still not sure any of them can guard Garza. I watched about 10 minutes of Gonzaga play this year and should be a good measuring stick to see if Iowa is a Final Four contender or 2nd Weekend hopeful.
