The ISU defense of today looks very similar to the philosophy that High Pockets used. Bend don't break with an occasional blitz. The problem with our scheme is that the blitzer isn't on the line of scrimmage, and from ten yards deep the quarterback has at least three seconds to read the coverage and release. When OU played TTech their blitzers were on the line and gave Harrell less than two seconds.

I agree. We had to be the worst blitzing team in the nation. When we sent a lot of guys, they got picked up. When we sent someone late and they got through, they were too late. We seemed to alwys be blitzing from the wrong spots, and the blitzes never really worked. I don't know how many times I saw Jesse Smith blitz through the middle and get to the quarterback just after the ball was thrown. With Smith blitzing, we got killed over the middle. With our safeties taking horrible angles, we gave up way too many big plays over the middle.
Our pass rush was terrible. I believe that is the #1 reason our Defense was soooo BAD. QB's just sat back there with no pressure and killed us.
I thought Taylor would have made an impact, he did not. I thought Parker would show improvement, he did not. Does anyone remember Shawn Moorehead? He did not have a Big 12 body but seemed to get to the QB a lot. I realize he had Berryman, Leaders and Curvey were next to him and the Big 12 offenses weren't as good as the ones we faced in '08, but still, ISU needs to get more of a pass rush.

You answered your own question. The interior of the line is nothing like it was. Those guys used to get double teamed. If you are strong on the inside, it makes everyone else's job much easier.
We don't have a permanent philosophy, because we don't yet have the personel to have a philosophy. You can't analyze the future based on the results thus far.
The blitzes were really bad. The worst I have ever seen. Almost every time that ISU was blitzing they ran up to the line, back away and then blitzed. Basically tipping their hand so the QB could make an adjustment and then blitzed right into the play the other team wanted them to. They also never seemed to get there, but again, a part of making a blitz work is the surprise.
