Did Chris Williams not take the virus seriously too?
This shaming of people because they got a virus that is highly contagious is odd to me. People are going to get sick and it’s not always their fault or because of bad decisions.
Pretty sure he was being tongue-in-cheek with his post. But I agree with your viewpoint.

Yeah, it is going to spread, and I am sure you could avoid it for the most part by hiding in your basement surrounded by bottles of bleach, but only a handful of people can live that way. The CDC had a report out the other day that showed that 83% of new cases were people that wore masks all the time, so not sure that just wearing a mask is the answer either. I'm not going to shame someone for wearing/not wearing a mask, and I am certainly not going to shame people that get an extremely contagious virus.
One thing I will say is that with all the hysteria surrounding covid, I see almost no one out there telling people to prepare their bodies to combat the virus if you get it. Work on you immune system, it may help you more than anything else right now.
That is not what the cdc said. Here is what they said exactly:

Having a sense of responsibility to others might explain why young adults reported wearing masks when shopping and why most held positive views of masks. However, when not in physical contact with loved ones at risk, young adults might choose to not wear a mask or to attend larger gatherings with peers who might also perceive a low severity of disease outcome for themselves. Exposure to misinformation and conflicting messages regarding masks might make it difficult to know what information to trust, underscoring the importance of providing clear and consistent messages during an outbreak (3,4). Among the few young adults who expressed negative attitudes about masks and social distancing or who had questions about the effectiveness of masks, those views appeared to be based on the expressed need to make their own choices (i.e., personal agency.
Is James dying of covid? Don't try answering. The fact you rationalized your argument with that comparison says you need your head examined. A respiratory illness akin to brain cancer?! I guess since the flu "might" kill you............ leukemia isn't such a bad thing.
In a nutshell, a significantly higher percentage of people are wearing masks, and yet the infection rate continues to rise. Not really sure how you can spin that any way other than masks do not work as well we are being told. Not saying they do not work at all, but the idea that if everyone wore a mask Covid would end in 6 weeks is clearly not true.
Because the people that are wearing the masks aren’t wearing them around others that they
consider low risk hence spreading.
