All Iowa Football Team---Post Bowl Edition

It varies by year for sure. This year the Big12 is hot garbage, but a few years ago it was fairly tough. The majority of reputable SOS metrics say Iowa SOS was tougher last year. They say ISU's was tougher in '18, Iowa's was tougher in '17 and '16. So basically 3 of the last 4 years Iowa's was tougher.

By what degree? Very small margin if we are being honest. I mean these SOS metrics are all over the place. In the same year you have at least one of the metrics saying the opposite of these results. SOS metrics are pretty much a joke, and resting your hat on them is a complete joke. Yet it seems that is all ISU fans do, so it means so do the Hawk fans here. There is nothing more valuable to a ISU fan than SOS, they can tell themselves just how awesome they could be if they were just somewhere else.
You realize the SEC solely rests its hat on the SOS argument and has done so for years, right?

I know, I wasn’t going by ranking either. Louisiana is better than everyone in the Big XII outside of Oklahoma State.
I think ULL could beat a lot of teams individually in both conferences but I don't know how they'd fair within the conference itself.

Hold on here. Are you saying that the SEC isn't clearly the strongest conference over the last decade or more?

This whole SOS stuff is for losers anyway. I get that it was what you did when you were winning 2-5 games and you sucked ballz. You needed an excuse. The thing is you don't need that now, and honestly it is embarrassing that you still cling to it like your baby blanket safety net. You have won 7 or 8 game each of the last 4 years, and outsiders look at ISU the same way they look at any Big10, Big12, SEC, ACC or Pac12 team that wins 7 or 8 games.

So you are predicating your entire position on the BIG12 being "hot garbage" on a metric that is all over the place and a complete joke. NOW we are getting somewhere.

Losing to Louisiana is looking like the equivalent to losing to Kentucky. 10-1 with a loss to ULL won't cost you a playoff bid. It would put you in the mix depending on other resumes. Sure making the CFP would be great but for this team winning the conference is the attainable prize.

The reason I say that if we were to slide in to the CFP it's possible we could find the perfect storm and beat an Alabama or Clemson although very unlikely. Beating both of them back to back is swimming in the deep end with 100# weights tied to your ankles.

I know the troll response will be you aren't making the playoff which as expectedly is missing the point. Winning the Big XIi is really all that matters now because that's the only thing we can control. Louisiana probably help our chances of attaining that goal far more than it hurt.

Remember when every
This I agree with. It is one thing to upset ISU in a given week, but then turn around and play TCU, WV, and Baylor in consecutive weeks and see how they do.
Yeah it's no different than a lot of those smaller schools that are good. Don't think they could match up week in and week out against that competition. Their depth would get exposed.

Louisiana is probably better Kentucky. Kentucky looks like garbage right now.

10-1 could get you in the playoff, but highly highly unlikely with Iowa State on the front of your jersey. Anything can happen, but I'd say there's a much greater chance the committee would take a 1 loss SEC team that didn't even win their conference over ISU. That's just the way it is.

There's a much higher chance Iowa State would lose by 21+ than keeping a game close against Bama or Clemson. I wouldn't care in the moment because we'd be in the CFP but see point 2 above.

Although losing to ULL sucked, I would rather be in our current situation over beating them and losing to one of the other three teams we've played.

I honestly believe if we had squeaked by Louisiana we wouldn't be undefeated in conference right now. The trolls are always going find something to bash on. Winning the conference title is the golden ring for this team. CFP is just the cherry on top.

I would tend to agree. Not sure which of the other 3 we would've lost, but someway it would've happened. Either way, if someone would've told me at the beginning of the year we'd start out 3-1, I'd take that every single time.
