All Iowa Football Team---Post Bowl Edition

We faced a top 25 team in our only non conference game and have a round robin conference schedule. How is that a poor schedule lol
ULL was receiving votes, but they weren't a top 25 team. They are currently a top-25 team, but that doesn't make that loss against a top-25 team no different than saying our win against OU WAS against a ranked opponent.

But no, we don't have a poor schedule. It's certainly not an extremely tough schedule, but it's a quality one. And Iowa fans shouldn't be throwing stones considering they play 3 straight tomato can teams to start their year.

You're now talking about different things. The reason why the majority of schools count ranked victories as victories against teams that were ranked when you play them, is because the AP poll is forever in flux and you don't take away a ranked victory due to your team winning the game.

Imagine beating a team that's 2-3 and then rattles off 6 straight wins to be ranked at the end of the year. You don't then get to claim that in week 6 your team had a ranked victory. Sure that win DOES look good at the end of the year, but it's still not a ranked victory.
I agree. But the same holds true to CyTwins statement above. Louisiana-Lafayette was not a top 25 team when you played them. They are now and could be in the end but they were only ranked the week after they beat you.

That was the joke...

Yes I agree. We lost to a team that's currently in the top-25, but it's not a ranked loss. It'd be contradicting to claim ULL is a ranked loss, but OU is a ranked victory. That is exactly why I, and the majority of others, go by what the team was ranked at the time you play them.

Playing in a small conference does not earn you a badge of honor. The Big 12 would have more members if they could, we all know that.
We play every team??? Iowa Wisconsin NW or MN get to miss out on two good football teams on the East Side every single year depending on how the schedule sets up for them and might even miss out on all of the top dogs on the other side if they get lucky!

Also, no, the Big 12 could have have more but they don't want to. It's a terrific set up in both basketball and football.

Who is Alex Gookin? looks like an ISU fanboy
Alex is actually a pretty level headed ISU fan. He even claims later in that thread Iowa has been the much better team for over the past decade. But, because he brought facts into the argument regarding SOS, you have no response.

Same thing happens in every conference but yours. The biggest flaw with an unbalanced schedule is I don't think the crossover games should count in the East/West standings. If Iowa had played as scheduled they would've played 4 of the 5 best teams in the conference.

Well wouldn't that be convenient for the Big 10 West?? LOL

And yes Iowa would've no doubt had a tougher schedule this year had the year been normal. I wasn't just talking about Iowa in my post above I was talking about the usual top 4 teams in the West in which one usually gets to miss out on 2-3 of the Big Boys in the East.

Right.

I’ve never understood the whole “our conference is ThE bEsT” thing when you avoid the best teams every year.
