Tough day for EIU hoops hopes

This coming from a team that is in a conference that lives off of one teams success (Kansas).
It is genuinely hilarious that a Big 10 fan would claim the Big 12 is living off the top. Since the current iteration of the Big 12 7 of the 10 teams have made a Sweet 16 (the measuring stick for tourney success). In that same time period half the teams in the Big 10 haven’t made it there. Half!

The conversation was about contending for a title.

Since the current iteration of the Big 12, KU, TTU and OU have each had 1 FF appearance and the conference has had one title game appearances.

In the same time period, the B1G has had 3 teams combine for 6 FF appearances and 3 appearances in the title game. None of the title game appearances belong to MSU.

Going back to 2000, the B1G has had 6 different teams represent the conference in the national title game for a total of 8 appearances.

MSU x2
Indiana
Illinois
OSU
Michigan x2
Wisconsin

The Big 12 since 2000 had 2 teams appear in the title game 4 times (KU 3 times and 1 time for Tech).

When did Texas Tech get kicked out of the Big 12?

This is wrong

College basketball in general past 4-5 years has really dropped off in talent IMO.. NBA rule changes and expansion of G league has really affected talent staying in college.

Duke, KY, UNC all normally and traditionally top 15 teams and its been hit and miss with them.

I find it hilarious all these IOwa fans coming here to talk smalk when the Bball program at Iowa has accomplished nothing under Fran...Nothing..Zero. Not a 2nd weekend in NCAA...Not a conf tourney title...certainly not close to Regualr season title...Heck not aa non conf tourney title I don't believe.

The greatest accomplishment in Fran tenure is beating ISU a few times and most all of those where when ISU just wasnt good.

But i give Fran some credit...He has put together a roster this year that was in no jeopardy of losing anyone to NBA and keeping a veteran team together with one of best players in college bball.

It is all or nothing this year for Iowa and Fran...bball this year is going to be chaotic at best..with a down year in talent Iowa better do something this year..anything...bc after this season they are going to be back to being .500 or worse.

Fran's multiple wins on the road against top 5 teams are much bigger accomplishments than beating ISU.

Do you think its apples to apples to compare a current league iteration Final Four appearance count, when one league has 14 teams and one has 10?

In the same time period, the B1G has had 3 teams combine for 6 FF x 0.71 = 4.26 appearances and 3 x 0.71 = 2.13 appearances in the title game. None of the title game appearances belong to MSU.

4.26 > 3
2.13 > 1

Boom. I knew all that time in Carver was worth it.

Since the current Big 12 was formed, the B1G has 4 more teams than the Big 12 and double the number of FF appearances and triple the number of title game appearances than the Big 12 has.

And if you want to get particular, the B1G wasnt a 14 team conference for all of those years.
