I know you have a soft spot for him but there's a lot of people that know him that can't stand him. No trolling he's basically thought of similar to Brian Ferentz by a lot of people over there that matter
I'd hate to hear what people think of you.

Fran is a pretty awful human being. Not Kirk level but not far behind him
As JP4CY has stated he is not a nice guy on the court. How does that make you an awful human being? He has stood against racism and supports multiple Cancer foundations. If you think he’s bad then I wonder what people think of you.

He's not a nice guy off the court either

And an Elite 8, two REGULAR SEASON conference titles, five conference tournament championships, and 2 Sweet 16’s- the only one of those that IA can match is two conference tourney championships under Slick Alford.

Like I said Fred's teams and Fred's players were really, really good. The 14 years without his players ISU has been really, really bad.

The Elite 8, two regular season titles, and one conference tourney title were Larry’s...and in the last 20 years.

Last year, my father who is in his early 60's, was diagnosed with stage 4 prostate cancer, a terminal diagnosis. My father is a Cardiologist, former Iowa Faculty member, and one of the most passionate Iowa fans I've ever come across. He has lived the healthiest lifestyle of any man I've ever met in my life. (Cancer is a *****) Fran caught wind of this from some of the old timers in the athletic department who my father had worked with for years prior. Fran personally visited my father on several occasions at my parents home and continues to correspond with him on a weekly basis. I usually wouldn't throw this out there, but after watching my father, who was the strongest and largest man I've ever known, (The man is 6"9") shine. Not shine because he was elated to meet a relatively famous basketball coach. But shine for the simple fact that he forgot how sick he was for a brief moment and was escape reality through the magic of sports and fandom. That is why I am a Fran McCaffery fan.
Thanks for sharing . Stories like that always help put things in better perspective.

Good thing the internet wasn't around in Hitler's day. He would have skipped the nazis and recruited the internet trolls instead.
OK, you had me intrigued so I had to look. Yikes.
I mean, even someone like Frank Garza is loved by Hawk fans, and I feel like I can safely say he's a worse human than anyone who posts here.

Thanks for proving my point. 20 years ago Larry did win a conference title. Since then it has been Fred's players or bust for ISU. This year looks like much the same again for ISU, a crap year without Fred or his players.

What has Iowa done in that 20 years? And what’s the big deal about who the coaches were that did it? Iowa has had three guys since TD left in ‘99 that have all been a bozo in their own ways- Prohm has accomplished more in March in 5 years at ISU than Fran has in 10 at Iowa. Do you think there has never been a coach who had great talent, no matter who brought it in, that hasn’t screwed that talent up and underachieved? You still have to coach them.

Did I say Iowa has been good over the last 20 years? No I did not.

Prohm has been awful without Freds players.
