I'm glad my ISP doesn't have a data cap but my parents on satellite internet do, this is a good tip I'll let them know about.

Oh yeah, that takes no time at all. I"m on satellite as well and only get 20 Gb a month. I still have Sling because they are the only ones that let you downgrade the quality significantly. Usually watch on Low quality at like 0.8 Mb/s. Not great, I will watch something like ISU games at medium and 1.2 Mb/s second and looks decent. Though those complaining about how the field looked against La I had no clue because it looked the same to me, lol. One game or movie (couple hours) in HD will easily take 3-4 Gb of data.

I'd recommend a $30 antenna to get local channels for free. I get 30+ channels from my cheap antenna in West Des Moines. Very easy to set up (just plug it in). My parents are recently retired and share YTTV with me and Mrs cyfan. They get a ton of free content from the antenna and really only turn on YTTV when mom wants to watch HGTV or live sports are on.

100%! I have Hulu Live TV and I swear the stream is like 1-2 minutes behind. Can't even look at my phone during the game with that
 


Welp... Another blow to the streaming TV options. This sucks, especially considering Hulu won't have the Fox regional sports channels going forward.

I honestly don't know what Sinclair's goal with the regional networks is. They've successfully pulled them off every OTT service except maybe AT&T Now? I imagine come March they're going to hold the baseball season hostage for contract negotiations with every service.

I mean good luck with that. The thing about YTTV is I'd be perfectly fine cancelling in the summer months.

This does suck. We throw in the extra $5 for ad free too

We still cut live TV during football off-season, but $70/mo is starting to get into low end traditional cable territory
 
Yeah, it's to the point now that we'll be adding and dropping service depending on sports seasons. Going from $40 to $70 is more than just negotiating rights fees. When are comapnaies going to realize that not everyone wants to pay for 200 channel options?

Agreed. I was hoping a streaming service would go with an ala carte model. I have used YTTV in the past but dropped when they went to $65. My dad has HULU and always felt that was a pretty good deal at $55, especially since they carry Cubs games during the summer which my dad watches religiously.

I have moved back to Sling (my original streaming service about 6 years ago). Not the best interface, but as long as they have ESPN I am good. Sports is the only programming I watch based on schedule- otherwise everything I watch is Prime or Premium service and binge.

Same thing with Peacock.

The T-Mobile option looks interesting but I'm not excited to spend $50 for their streaming platform

We have Netflix, Amazon, HBO (free with our basic cable package that includes locals and network on demand), Hulu and Disney+.

If I can't dig something out of that I'll use the Beachbody app to workout or watch old Four Horsemen videos on YouTube.

But during football? The providers got me by the balls
