Welcome to Yu-Gi-Oh! mafia, duelists! Unfamiliar with Yu-Gi-Oh? No problem. Here’s the really quick gist:
Yu-Gi-Oh! revolves around a card game known as Duel Monsters, which was created by Maximillion Pegasus (television series season 1 antagonist) and based on “real” duels using “real” monsters from ancient Egypt. The main protagonist, Yugi Muto, entered and won Pegasus’ Duelist Kingdom tournament and earned the title of King of Games after defeating many of the best duelists in the world, including Yugi’s archrival Seto Kaiba.
This game of mafia will include many of the characters and some of the notable plot points from the full TV series.
ROLES
The Mafia
Maximillion Pegasus - Pegasus is the creator of Duel Monsters and possesses the ancient Egyptian artifact known as the Millennium Eye. Using the power of the Millennium Eye, Pegasus will be able to see who Yugi (JOAT) and Joey (detective) investigate every night, but will not see the result of those investigations.
Seto Kaiba - Kaiba is the President and CEO of Kaiba Corporation. He’s a rich, cold-hearted duelist and is Yugi’s main rival. Kaiba’s main claim to fame is he possesses three Blue-Eyes White Dragon cards - a very rare and powerful monster. On every third night starting on night 3 (3, 6, 9…), Kaiba will be able to order his Blue-Eyes White Dragons to kill someone of his choosing, separate from the mafia’s regular night kill. This kill can be blocked like the regular night kill.
Marik Ishtar - Marik developed a split personality at a young age, and eventually “Dark Marik” assumed full control. He also possesses the Millennium Rod, which allows him to control people’s minds. Marik can choose one person’s vote to “steal” during each night phase using his Millennium Rod. He must also choose (during the night phase) who he wants that person’s vote to be for the next day. The stolen vote will not be visible publicly in vote counts.
Dartz - Dartz is the former King of Atlantis and master of the Orichalcos. Dartz will be able to use the Seal of Orichalcos to role block one person per night phase, but never the same person two nights in a row.
Bakura - Bakura is actually one of Yugi’s friends, but can (and did) become possessed by the evil spirit that dwells inside his Millennium Ring. Bakura will appear as a regular innocent if he is investigated.
The remaining mafia members have no special powers.
The Innocents
Yugi Muto - Yugi is known as the King of Games, and in this game, that means he is the Jack of All Trades. Yugi will have the ability to investigate, protect, or kill one person per night. He cannot use the same power back-to-back. Additionally, in the TV series, Yugi solved the Millennium Puzzle, which connected him with the spirit of an ancient Egyptian pharaoh. When Yugi receives his role at the beginning of the game he will also be given a riddle representing the Millennium Puzzle that, if solved at any time, will allow Yugi to further expand his powers. If the Millennium Puzzle is solved, Yugi’s investigations will not be revealed to Pegasus, he will not be able to be role blocked by Dartz, and he will not be able to be killed by Kaiba’s extra night kill. I will publicly announce in the game thread if/when the Millennium Puzzle has been solved.
Joey Wheeler - Joey is Yugi’s best friend, who quickly learned Duel Monsters and is always by Yugi’s side and willing to help out. Joey is the detective and will be able to investigate one person every night.
Téa Gardner - Téa is another of Yugi’s friends and is a solid duelist whose deck centers around fairies and spellcasters. Téa is the doctor and will be able to protect one person every night, but never the same person back-to-back.
Tristan Taylor - The final member in the group of four core friends is Tristan, who doesn’t really have many defining features, but he gets a special role anyway. Tristan is the lookout and will be able to pick one person per night to watch. He will learn who (if anyone) visited that person during the night phase.
Duke Devlin - Duke is the creator of another game in the series called Dungeon Dice Monsters, though his main claim to fame is that he’s bringing sexy back. Every night, Duke can choose to roll a six-sided die (I’ll input six results in Random.org). He does not have to roll the die if he doesn’t want to. If he rolls the die, these are the results he can get:
6 - Duke is granted an instakill
5 - Duke’s vote secretly counts as 2 votes the next day
4 - Nothing
3 - Nothing
2 - Nothing
1 - The mafia is granted an instakill
Special Item - Five Pieces of Exodia
Any REGULAR INNOCENT duelist who successfully collects the five pieces of Exodia the Forbidden One automatically wins the entire game FOR THEMSELF. Prior to the game, I will select five random post numbers between 1-500. If a regular innocent’s comment happens on one of those posts, they will receive a piece of Exodia. If a non-regular innocent’s comment happens on a post I selected to receive a piece of Exodia, the next regular innocent to comment will receive that piece. Once all five pieces of Exodia have been entered into the game, this is how the pieces can be collected:

- Regular innocents who possess a piece of Exodia will keep their piece(s) until they die.

So, if a regular innocent dies who had two pieces of Exodia, it’s possible that two people get one piece each, or one person gets both pieces.
RULES
- Editing of posts is forbidden.
- Days will last from 8 a.m. to 9:05 p.m., including Fridays, as stamped by the CF clock.
- Votes must be bolded to count.
- No PMing will be allowed between players unless your role allows it.
- The only role you may directly claim to be is regular innocent. You may leave hints to your role, but I reserve the right to say you broke the rule if I believe any hint is too obvious.
- If you vote twice without rescinding, only your first vote will count.
- Specials will have until 7 a.m. the following morning to submit their night abilities.
- Missing two votes total will result in a player being clapped. I will not be doing half days this game as I don’t believe it will last long.
- Reactions are allowed this game. If you see a reaction that you believe influences the game in a negative way, bring it to me privately and I will address it.
- Ghost posting is allowed, but should be done in a different colored font and should not include any information that could affect the game.
- In the case of ties, Random.org will be used.
- If you have any questions, PM me.
- I reserve the right to change the rules or edit roles as necessary. Any change will be announced and marked on the front page.
