Iowa Football Recruiting

I think deep down you really do want things to get better, but maybe are just struggling with accepting that. You shouldn't fight it. Positive things are happening, and that's a good thing. Real serious problems existed and thanks to guys like Daniels, Jaleel and many others who spoke up, those issues were brought to light and now major cultural shifts are happening. Again, that's a good thing.

Ferentz 3.0 will be much improved until the honeymoon is over.

And yet you continue to worship the guy who ran the program for 22 years and ONLY changed when he was caught with his hand in the cookie jar.

Carry on...

"Worship"? Lol. Nah. He knows he's made mistakes and should be accountable. He's got a lot of work to do, and from the sounds of the guys who were most vocal in terms of calling the program out, they're now supportive of him and the changes being made.

This is kinda where I am Gonzo. KF runs a pretty tight ship and micromanages everything; but his excuse throughout all the issues was, golly gee, I had no idea. If he would man up and own his issues, it would make him look like a good person. He comes across as a ethically devoid person with the way he handles the issues that come up. He throws his best friend under the bus and leaves his son alone.

I care because this is not how you treat any people, this is not a good role model to present to impressionable young people, this is a reflection on the state, there are also several Iowa kids on the roster which many will end up within our state still and this is our leaders of tomorrow; they are not getting a good example to go off of. Kirk needs to be shown the door due to his lack of morals and what he has covered up over the years. KF showed his true side when Akrum Wadleys name was brought up and he started getting very upset, then his wild tangent on scrambled eggs when I think he even caught himself and realized that he was portraying himself poorly.

I don't want to see the hawkeyes fail. I honestly am indifferent to them as a team (I like to see the Iowa kids do well, unless they are jerks), I am solidly ISU and then outside of the Packers, especially due to my connections there, I don't really pay much attention to any other team out there. I just don't think Kirk has shown he deserves anything but to get fired and some public humiliation due to what he incurred on these players.

I am brute force while this is eloquent.

Good stuff, understandable. I still am going to defer to the former players and players who've been affected by all this, and he has their support. According to Lomax KF runs things kind of like a CEO, not as hands-on as may be the norm. They were asked if he could be part of the solution and apparently most said he could. If a majority of former/current players came out and said he needed to go, I'd side with them there as well. Haven't seen that happen.

Throughout this ordeal we have heard similar type comments like if they keep Wallace and BrianF they were done. Yet when they were retained they came back here like they never said anything. Gonzo, were you one of those?

The report mentioned concern of 3 coaches correct? One was bought off and he left.
There's been squat said about the others.
Kirk has more than once recently said that Doyle is a good coach, gold friend, etc.

So, thru all of this, would most objective people consider that a decent punishment for the other coaches and the CEO even if culture is changing now? I'm most likely not objective but I think I am being fair in these statements.

Yeah if a majority of the players/former players want BF gone, he should be gone. Not sure if they released the individual personnel/coach reports, I'd be interested in seeing those. Guessing if there's heat on BF and numbers calling for his job, we'll hear about it. If there is and he's not let go, I'd have a problem with that. Would also like to know exactly what happened with the Wallace situation, but the summaries I've heard, if true, he should be gone. I have a nephew on the spectrum, anyone mocking someone about anything related to that is gross and inexcusable.

I don't think that they're going to release any of the individual personnel reports.. They could get leaked out or something, but I'm willing to bet those will be kept under wraps for a long time.

I think the fact that Brian was heavily involved in all of this thoroughly screwed everything up. Had his name not been Ferentz, there's no doubt in my mind he would've been placed on leave like Doyle and then fired after all of this.

Kirk mostly plead ignorance and because of that, is going to be able to fix the issues within his program. I don't necessarily agree with that, but that's just the reality of the situation and I hope actual change is made and that change doesn't not revert back to the mean down the line.

They won't release the names. Dochterman said on 1460 they legally can't because of the way this review was set up.

I read it as he wanted more info now to determine their fate instead of before where they just needed to be fired
I guess we're just reading it differently. I took it as he would love to know what's in those reports because the allegations were enough for them to be fired. So he's wondering if the reports conflict those statements.

I'm in that same boat.. Even though none of us will find out, it would be very interesting to read HB's reports and what they found against BF and Wallace. Were the findings consistent and Iowa is refusing to take action? Were they inconsistent and therefore neither coach deserves to be fired? I would lean heavily on the former.
