It is the conventional wisdom that you folks keep on posting.
This year's Iowa team has the highest expectations for any team in the state in probably the last 30 years or so.
Where have I articulated an opinion on Iowa basketball? Outside of Frangaret being a really weird coach I have very little opinion on what their season is going to look like. It's weird, most everyone thinks Iowa is a B1G title and Final Four contender except ISU fans.
I will link his Big 12 preview when he drops it. What are your thoughts on where ISU is pegged? 8 or 9?
Totally agree. These high expectations are paying huge dividends for Fran recruiting wise. It's weird, most everyone thinks Iowa is a B1G title and Final Four contender except ISU fans.

Being the leading program in the state for as long as we have it is head scratching to see Frangaret finally develop a team with expectations.I know it's hard for ISU fans to be looking so far up at Iowa in basketball.

Garza's 35 footers will be the reason. How can a 60 year old coach who's never even been to the Sweet 16 be a legit final four contender? Lol cmon

Grinnell is doing just fine, they're the Harvard of the Midwest ICYMI.It has to be tough for a supposed "basketball school" to be the 3rd best team in the state for the second season in a row.
I understand you have no idea as a Hawk fan what sustained success in basketball is like. I really am excited to see the recruiting classes Frangaret has brought in.It has to be tough for a supposed "basketball school" to be the 3rd best team in the state for the second season in a row.
Are you talking about Frangaret's recruiting? This one missed the mark.

So because Iowa State is suppose to be ranked this pre-season higher than Iowa in football, we get to claim the exact same thing right?
Let's play the games before anointing a victor. Preseason talk is for the guys in the media and blowhards.
I like ISU's team a lot if Harris and Hinson are eligible. Will they be better than Iowa? We will find out a wintery night in December.
Iowa looks good on paper, but there is only 1 ball- so not sure how big a deal the additions of Bohannon and Nunge are. Just like ISU over the last 10 years, offense isn't the limiting factor for Fran led Iowa hoops teams. It's defending!! If Iowa is to be a Top 10 team they will need to defend a lot better.
We laugh because Iowa's defense is bad. Bad defense doesn't win championships, no matter how good the offense. It's unrealistic for Iowa to win a championship in the same way it was for ISU under Fred. The national media is feeding the hype just the same they did for us a handful of years ago. Don't buy it.It's weird, most everyone thinks Iowa is a B1G title and Final Four contender except ISU fans.

Kriener was pretty darn solid all of last year. Nunge has some big shoes to fill, but he also needs to prove he can stay healthy.I am hoping Nunge can replace Krieners production.
Adding back a healthy Bohannon is a pretty big deal. He was 3rd team all conference as a junior and has a realistic shot of making more 3 pointers than any other player in B1G history.
