Attendance policy from JP...

Not if they're sitting next to each other, spraying droplets with each cheer, and not wearing masks.

Maybe you are stuck in side but Iowans are interacting outside in large numbers with little/no increase in cases. Our hospital systems are well equipped to handle any small increase in transmission caused by spectators.

Tweets like that are exactly why I don't trust Pollard with this situation.
Flame away, y'all, but that stuff isn't how you focus on taking care of people.
This could certainly be a troll, but Pollard could also be trying to keep people optimistic / excited about the opportunity to come to the games. I trust Jamie. He's one of the best in the business and just because he wants to get people into the stands (like every other AD), does not make him incompetent in dealing with this situation.

Leaving this here as people have already interacted with this post, but please note the caveat in my next post (#449).

Do you have a link for this? Cases are holding steady at the state level. Some counties are seeing spikes in cases, such as Story.

Is there a map for new hospitalizations? I understand you were replying to someone who referenced cases, but I'd be more interested in hospitalizations.
I picked that up from another thread, but I probably should research it more. It came from Johns Hopkins, but I'm not finding that specific map on their current stats, and it isn't dated. I was actually just coming in here to remove it.

Side note: I should know better than to post data I haven't researched.

Key part to those phrases are “sitting next to each other” and “not wearing masks”. If you doing either one of those let alone both the potential of transmission is very low. But you need to do both of these things if you want spectators attending sporting events and a person should be thrown out if they aren’t wearing a mask.

I would say that if I'm at JTS and someone is next to me and not wearing a mask, I'm probably moving to an open section. But there's no doubt I'm going if they let fans in.

Yeah, that's what I was originally thinking. Then I started thinking about entering, exiting, using the restrooms...

Plus, the county BOH hasn't actually made any recommendations yet. Those won't be determined until Thursday night.

Yeah, restrooms are going to be problematic, especially the dreaded flush plume.

From what I hear we are likely to have a "no brown" policy and a team referred to as the "brown police" will be monitoring for compliance.

That seems to be more of a scare story to me. I'm mostly talking about the close quarters with other people. I can forgo getting anything from concessions, but I'm an old lady. I can't forgo using the facilities. :D
