Iowa Football Recruiting

Myslinski was once thought to be a lock to Iowa, but now not so much. Citing the current events there.

I think if Iowa hadn't loaded up prior to all the racism stuff, their class would look quite a bit different.

He was never a lock for Iowa, he has been pretty adamant about wanting to take visits before deciding. It sounds like he is coming to Iowa City to check out campus on his own since visits are not allowed.

Iowa is still in pretty good shape here.

Does that help you cope with the fact that he was a Ball State commit with zero power 5 offers? Cause you and others here have made it VERY clear that offers are all that matter

No, no. When a kid is an iowa commit, high ratings can mean a lot and offers only matter if they have a bunch of them. An ISU commit MUST have multiple respectable offers to be worth a crap.

A '22 kid from STL had also cited concerns with Kkkirk's program.

We ain't getting Fidone.
As much as I hate it I'm going to have to agree with you on that. I just hope he goes somewhere other than Nebby. Wish Campbell would've done a better job of recruiting him to keep him away from there. Could've slid right in after Kolar leaves Ames. Surprised he couldn't sell him on that enough to at least be a finalist. Husker TE's haven't exactly been lighting it up.

no. the questions with a recruit should be when they don't have high ratings or respectable offers either.

Both seemed excited with the Iowa offer but it will be an uphill climb for either one.

I still think it is most likely that Iowa flips Tyler Moore before signing day.
Yeah, I think we end up settling for a lower recruit this year. Not hard for players to take a look at the offers of the 3 young guys in the TE room. Would be enough to give anyone pause when thinking about wanting to play early.

No shot on Trigg. He's either a Florida school or SEC.

I think you guys have a chance for Helm.

Trigg really wanted an Iowa offer, and Iowa would have been one of his top schools if they had offered a few months ago. I think they waited too long and have too much ground to make up now.

Really, neither of them mean anything. Labas was a MAC commit with no P5 offers. Then, when he flips, with no additional film, no camps to evaluate, he's a 4 star? Same with the kid from Ida Grove. It comes down to iowa having a good history of evaluation. And honestly, ISU has a similar, but shorter history of that with Campbell. Kolar wasn't highly rated and he was an All-American last year. Purdy didn't have "respectable" offers until really late and he's one of the best returning QBs in the country this season.

Really, with no camps this summer to evaluate, ratings this year mean less than they probably ever had. It's on the staffs to evaluate based on game film. The ones that can do that effectively are going to have good classes, no matter what the ratings say.

Hoks, convince me...

A super athletic, top 150 4 star recruit with offers to every SEC school except Miss State and Arkansas wants to get an offer from your program; however, You hold off on offering him until it's practically too late.

Convince me how that is smart recruiting strategy...
