I'm all for piling on Iowa when possible, but this law firm thing is dumb. There are dozens of attorneys in that office. The idea the investigation is somehow tainted simply because there are a few Iowa Law grads in the firm is ridiculous. You wont find a Midwest law firm with a good reputation that doesn't have at least a few Iowa Law grads.
I'd also just say that someone going to graduate school at Iowa does not necessarily make them a supporter of Iowa Athletics. Most I know are much more tied to their undergraduate institutions than Iowa.
Is there any indication the Iowa grads even support Iowa athletics? Any indication they are actually involved in the investigation?
A quick look indicates they all practice in very different fields than compliance/investigations. There's literally dozens of other attorneys that can handle the investigation.
The Kansas City office has the bulk of the firm’s education/investigation attorneys. The other offices also have multiple Iowa grads working there, because it is a large Midwest law firm.
Anyone who would disagree with this either is trolling or has no idea what they are talking about.
It is funny both ISU and Iowa hired the same law firm to defend them. Glad you finally admit they were hired to defend Iowa. ******* moron.
So if he had 125 in year one he'd need to average 97.5 new players over the next 20 years to get to 2000 which would be the minimum number equated to thousands but logic hasn't got in the way of any of your other arguments so have at it.
Neither of the two attorneys that are going to primarily handle the investigation attended Iowa for undergrad or law school. One went to Northwest Missouri State for undergrad and Drake for law school and the other graduated from Kansas for undergrad and law school.
And knowing some Drake students, they walk around campus in their hok gear. Similar to UNI and Kirkwood.
Personally I would feel more confident of the validity of the investigation outcome if it were conducted by someone like Aaron Carter, Kauff Mcguire & Margolis LLP, New York City. African-American with degrees from Princeton and William & Mary.

Be honest here, you wouldnt trust the investigation results at all if they dont say exactly what you want them to say.
I'm sure the investigations are going to find wrong doing. We'll see if they have any hard evidence that Kirk knew of these situations though. Even if they do find evidence, I'd be shocked if Barta and the University does anything in regards to Kirk.
I think Aaron Carter would be trustworthy and I would trust his investigative results. Unfortunately he'll never get the chance to prove it.

So for the record, you would like the University of Iowa to hire some random junior associate from a random firm in New York, who does not appear to have any experience conducting investigations of this nature, over an acclaimed partner from one of the best law firms in the Midwest with 15 years of experience conducting similar investigations?
No one could accuse the U of I of conflict of interest that way. I think Aaron could handle the investigation quite well. There are 99 other black lawyers on the list also. Chose any one of them.
No one with a functioning brain could accuse the U of I of conflict of interest in this instance either, yet here we are.
