Iowa Football Recruiting

I don't think you want to go down that rabbit hole. Twins heard Hankins wasn't very happy with the coaches and all you Iowa fans were saying he's fine, everything's fine, blah blah blah. Welp, it just so happens that not only Hankins but 60+ players from the past and current players were upset due to the fact that Kirk was allowed to run a racially biased program and employ assistants that were making racist comments towards their players.

So I wouldn't make fun of Twins for saying there was smoke Hankins was going to transfer. Hell, after the investigation, I'm sure there will be more than just Hankins who decide to part ways.

I mean I absolutely nailed the entire situation. Not sure why anyone would question my sources on this

How can you not think that? Any person can see that Kirk ran a program that had severe racial issues and then Kirk himself said he had never heard of any racial issues.

You don't have to be a KKK member to be a racist. You don't have to want POC to die or hate them unconditionally for you to be a racist.

"a person who shows or feels discrimination or prejudice against people of other races, or who believes that a particular race is superior to another."

The stories that these former players told the public proved that Kirk Ferentz, as well as those within the program, were indeed racist.
You've gone off the depend a bit here. There are plenty of black student athletes that have nothing but good things to say about Kirk Ferentz. Braithwaithe will be the new strength and conditioning coach and they are bringing back former players like Mike Daniels to lead a committee aimed at supporting black athletes. They will come out of this stronger than they were before but there may still be a few hurdles to get to that point....one being Brian Ferentz.

I know that's your hope but I wouldn't count on it. They will end up stronger because of this.

This has been the #1 coping mechanism used by your fanbase and media.. It's almost gotten to the point where it's becoming popular because maybe you and others are scared this is the beginning of the end.

Yikes if Braithwaite is really the new head guy

I actually haven't gone off the deep end. Look at that definition of the word racist and prove me wrong. Again, you're not understanding that you don't have to be a yee haw confederate flag flying hill billy to be a little bit racist.

Kirk himself had rules discriminating against African Americans. Kirk allowed his coaches to use language that was racially insensitive towards African Americans. That is racist. Is it racist enough for the players to despise Kirk? Most of them no, and partially because Kirk wasn't the one using the racist language. The rules don't cause as much of an uproar as direct communication does.

Also, Barta admitted Iowa already had a committee for these types of issues to be brought up, so it's pretty interesting Iowa's adding another double secret committee that is ACTUALLY going to help out.

It is a coping mechanism but not in the way you think. There are adaptive mechanisms which offer positive help. There are behavioral mechanisms that change what we do. There are also avoidance mechanisms, which you speak of, that avoid or ignore the issue. They are not avoiding or ignoring the issue here. They have and will continue to take steps to change what they are doing and to offer positive help.

You and your brethren want nothing more than to see Iowa fail. If you are a person that want's to see this get worst for Iowa under these circumstances and that hopes this is the beginning of the end, you have some issues of your own.

Dude they literally ignored and avoided the issue. That actually happened. The only reason why Iowa's going through this mess is because there was a chain reaction after Matt Hankins decided to post on instagram. Had that not happened, Doyle would be your S&E coach still and the program you root for would not be investigated for racial disparities and racial discrimination!

And to your bottom part.. Don't try and make me feel guilty. I felt the exact same way about Baylor, I feel the same way about Kansas basketball and how they've dealt with situations, I felt the same about Ohio State with Urban, and I felt the same way about Penn State with Joe Paterno. Your the one that is actively defending the fact that Kirk Ferentz should not be held accountable for running the program like he did. If someone needs to look in the mirror, it should not be me.

If Doyle was retained he would have left. I have that on good authority
We'll never know

What rules did he have specifically against African Americans? What language that was racially insensitive did Kirk know about and allow his coaches to use? I guess I haven't seen any proof of either of those things. If this was true, why would players change their opinion about leaving or staying based on just Doyle (Matt Hankins)? Why wouldn't they demand Kirk be gone as well?

How do you know there is an issue if no one brings it to your attention? How do you know they knew about it and chose to ignore it?

Him getting a good sized bump would be the quintessential example of what I have been saying about the ratings this cycle. They bumped him from an 81 to an 84 on 4/15. So any additional ratings bump would be based on literally nothing. He hasn’t had a camp, played a game, or even thrown a ball in front of the evaluators. It sucks because I enjoy following recruiting, but the COVID has made the ratings this cycle meaningless.
Lol he got bumped to a 90!
